(Symbolbild: Unsplash)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Die Eidgen\u00f6ssische Forschungsanstalt f\u00fcr Wald, Schnee und Landschaft (<a href=\"\/\/www.wsl.ch\/de.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WSL<\/a>) und ihr Institut f\u00fcr Schnee- und Lawinenforschung (<a href=\"\/\/www.slf.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SLF<\/a>) untersucht, welche Art Wald den besten Schutz gegen Gefahren wie zum Beispiel Erdrutschungen bietet. \u201eM\u00f6glichst diverse Strukturen im Wald \u2013 sowohl unter- als auch oberirdisch \u2013 sch\u00fctzen am besten vor Rutschungen\u201c, teilen die Studienleiter in einer k\u00fcrzlich erschienen Pressemitteilung mit.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Neue Erkenntnisse<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Rutschungen und Hangmuren werden massgeblich von Regen ausgel\u00f6st. Aufgrund des Klimawandels und einer zu erwartenden Zunahme von Starkniederschl\u00e4gen \u201ed\u00fcrften flachgr\u00fcndige Rutschungen und Hangmuren \u00f6fter vorkommen\u201c, heisst es in der Mitteilung. Die neusten Erkenntnisse \u00fcber die Wirkung des Waldes auf Rutschungen fassen nun mehrere Forschende in einer Spezialausgabe der\u00a0<a title=\"external-link-new-window\" href=\"\/\/xn--https-ix3b\/\/www.forstverein.ch\/de\/zeitschrift-szf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Schweiz. Zeitschrift f\u00fcr Forstwesen (SZF)\u00a0<\/a>zusammen. Dabei sticht hervor, wie wichtig der Zustand des Waldes ist:<\/p>\n<p>Sehr dichte W\u00e4lder und Windwurffl\u00e4chen sch\u00fctzen weniger gut vor Rutschungen als solche mit stufigem Bestandesaufbau. An sehr steilen H\u00e4ngen geraten W\u00e4lder allerdings an ihre Grenzen: Bei H\u00e4ngen mit mehr als 38\u00b0 Neigung kommt es pro Fl\u00e4che sogar zu mehr Rutschungen im Wald als im Freiland. W\u00e4lder in sehr steilen Lagen werden meist weniger gepflegt und befinden sich vorwiegend in h\u00f6heren und unwirtlicheren Gebieten, wo auch die st\u00f6rungsanf\u00e4llige Fichte (Windwurf und Borkenk\u00e4fer) besonders stark vertreten ist. Fichten haben keine tiefen Wurzeln und werden deshalb an steilen H\u00e4ngen leicht mitgerissen.<\/p>\n<p>Welche Art Wald am besten sch\u00fctzt, haben Forschende der Eidg. Forschungsanstalt f\u00fcr Wald, Schnee und Landschaft WSL und des WSL-Instituts f\u00fcr Schnee- und Lawienenforschung SLF mit grossr\u00e4umigen Datens\u00e4tzen \u00fcber die Vegetation und Naturereignisse nachgewiesen. Sie zeigen, dass Wiederbewaldung und nat\u00fcrliche St\u00f6rungen wie der Orkan Lothar, der sich im Dezember zum 20. Mal j\u00e4hrt, aber auch die geschickte Bewirtschaftung des Waldes dessen Schutzfunktion gegen Rutschungen deutlich beeinflussen kann.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abM\u00f6glichst diverse Strukturen im Wald \u2013 sowohl unter- als auch oberirdisch \u2013 sch\u00fctzen am besten vor Rutschungen\u00bb, sagt Christian Rickli vom Forschungteam. Dazu geh\u00f6re eine gute Mischung von verschiedenen Baumarten ebenso wie eine vielf\u00e4ltige Altersstruktur der B\u00e4ume.<\/p>\n<p class=\"bodytext\"><em>F\u00fcr ihre Untersuchungen haben die WSL-Forscher auf Informationen aus ihrer Rutschungsdatenbank zur\u00fcckgegriffen. Darin werden seit 1997 Daten zu inzwischen mehr als 750 Rutschungen erfasst.
