September 2020 f\u00fchrte die Umtec Technologie AG in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Institut f\u00fcr Umwelt- und Verfahrenstechnik UMTEC der OST \u2013 Ostschweizer Fachhochschule die WASTEvision 2020 zum zehnten Mal durch.\u00a0Nach einer kurzen Einf\u00fchrung \u00fcbergab Reto Vincenz, Gesch\u00e4ftsf\u00fchrer der Umtec Technologie AG, das Wort an den ersten Referenten, Rainer Bunge, von der Fachstelle Rohstoffe und Verfahrenstechnik des Instituts UMTEC. Er erl\u00e4uterte anhand der Kunststoffmassenstr\u00f6me in der Schweiz, wo vermeidbare und wo unvermeidbare Leckagen von Kunststoff in die Umwelt existieren. Dabei wurde deutlich, dass bei diesen Leckagen zwischen &#8222;l\u00e4stig \/ un\u00e4sthetisch&#8220; und &#8222;toxikologisch relevant&#8220; unterschieden werden muss.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Psychologische Ursachen des Littering\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In der Folge beleuchtete Ralph Hansmann, Umweltpsychologe der ETH Z\u00fcrich, die Problematik des Littering und zeigte auf, wie komplex die psychologischen Ursachen dahinter sind. Als Massnahmen gegen das Littering erzeugen denn auch humorvolle und umweltorientierte Kampagnen einen deutlich besseren Effekt als solche mit autorit\u00e4rem Inhalt.<\/p>\n<p>Nach der Kaffeepause referierte Dominik Egli, Leiter der Stadtreinigung Basel, \u00fcber die allt\u00e4gliche Littering-Situation an den Hotspots in der Stadt Basel. Die gelitterten Abfallmengen k\u00f6nnen zwar sehr gross sein, trotzdem ist das Problem f\u00fcr die Stadtreinigung handhabbar, und der Sauberkeitsindex f\u00fcr die Stadt Basel ist gut. Ein Zielkonflikt besteht allerdings beim illegalen Hausm\u00fcll, der teilweise in der \u00d6ffentlichkeit entsorgt wird. Nora Steimer, Gesch\u00e4ftsf\u00fchrerin der IG Saubere Umwelt legte dar, wie wirksame Massnahmen gegen Littering aussehen k\u00f6nnen.<\/p>\n<p>Besonders effektiv ist es dabei, immer wieder von Neuem Massnahmen zu ergreifen, und dabei einen geeigneten Mix unterschiedlicher Massnahmen einzusetzen. In der Folge berichtete Richard Nyffeler von der Entsorgung St. Gallen aus dem Leben eines Abfallcontrollers. Das Spektrum seiner Erfahrungen reicht dabei von bewusst oder unbewusst falsch entsorgtem Hauskehricht bis hin zu illegalen Deponien in der Natur. Als ganz spezielle Erlebnisse konnte er von einem entsorgten Boot in einem Waldtobel berichten und von einem K\u00fchlschrank, der an eine Autobahnbr\u00fccke geh\u00e4ngt worden war\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Die Mittagspause wurde nicht nur f\u00fcr die Verpflegung, sondern auch f\u00fcr angeregten Diskussionen unter den Teilnehmenden und den Referenten\/-Innen genutzt, nat\u00fcrlich unter Ber\u00fccksichtigung des COVID-19-Schutzkonzepts. In der Folge berichtete Thomas Bucheli, Leiter Forschungsgruppe Umweltanalytik von Agroscope, \u00fcber Plastikstr\u00f6me in der Schweizer Landwirtschaft. Dabei handelt es sich oft um beabsichtige Anwendungen mit einem Mehrnutzen, ganz im Gegensatz zu gelittertem Kunststoff, der absolut unerw\u00fcnscht ist.<\/p>\n<p>Den Abschluss der Referate machte Andreas Utiger, Gesch\u00e4ftsf\u00fchrer Biomasse Suisse. Er erkl\u00e4rte, wie Kunststoffe in unseren Bioabfall gelangen, und was f\u00fcr Massnahmen zur Steigerung der Gr\u00fcngutqualit\u00e4t ergriffen werden k\u00f6nnen. Mit den interessanten Fachbeitr\u00e4gen der Referentinnen und Referenten war die Basis f\u00fcr eine engagierte Diskussion zur Abrundung der Tagung gelegt. Dabei wurden verschiedene Fragen der Teilnehmer\/-Innen durch die Experten\/-Innen diskutiert und beantwortet.<\/p>\n<p><em>Die WASTEvision 2020 war ein voller Erfolg. Deshalb freuen sich die Veranstalter bereits auf die WASTEvision 2021 am 24.
