Flexible Solarzellen (sog. CIGS-Solarzellen) bestehen aus sehr d\u00fcnnen Schichten, darunter eine Verbindung aus den Elementen Kupfer, Indium, Gallium und Selen. Die Empa-Forschenden haben den Wirkungsgrad von flexiblen CIGS-Solarzellen erneut verbessert. Schon letztes Jahr konnte ein Rekord vermeldet werden<\/a>. Unabh\u00e4ngig zertifizierte Messungen ergaben nun einen Wert von 22,2% bei der Umwandlung von Licht in Strom, was eine Verbesserung gegen\u00fcber dem bisherigen Rekordwert von 21,4% bedeutet. Zum Vergleich: Der maximale Wirkungsgrad einer starren Solarzelle aus kristallinem Silizium liegt bei 26,7%. Das Team um Romain Carron, Gruppenleiter im Empa-Labor f\u00fcr D\u00fcnnschichten und Photovoltaik unter der Leitung von Ayodhya N. Tiwari, pr\u00e4sentierte seine neusten Resultate an der \u00ab8. World Conference on Photovoltaic Energy Conversion\u00bb (WCPEC-8) am 26. September 2022 in Mailand.<\/p>\n

D\u00fcnne Halbleiterschicht nochmals optimiert<\/h3>\n

Die flexiblen Solarzellen werden auf einer Polymerfolie verarbeitet mit einer lichtabsorbierenden Halbleiterschicht bestehend aus einer Kupfer-Indium-Gadolinium-Selen-Verbindung. Diese mineralische Schicht wird durch ein Niedrigtemperatur-Co-Verdampfungsverfahren abgeschieden. Der Empa-Wissenschaftler Shiro Nishiwaki ver\u00e4nderte die Zusammensetzung der Schicht, um die Leistung und die Ausgangsspannung der Zellen zu verbessern. \u00abZwei unterschiedliche Ans\u00e4tze zur Legierung des Kristalls f\u00fchrten zu einer \u00e4hnlichen Verbesserungen in der Leistung des Bauelements\u00bb, sagt Romain Carron. Daher lassen sich die Ergebnisse auf unterschiedliche Weise, aber mit gleichwertigen Ergebnissen auf einen industriellen Massstab \u00fcbertragen. Der Wirkungsgrad der Solarzelle von 22,2% wurde unabh\u00e4ngig am Fraunhofer-Institut f\u00fcr Solare Energiesysteme ISE in Freiburg best\u00e4tigt.<\/p>\n

Flexible Solarzellen: Seit 1999 ein Forschungsgebiet<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Ayodhya Tiwari forscht mit seinem Team seit mehr als 23 Jahren an flexiblen D\u00fcnnschichtsolarzellen. Sie haben im Laufe der Jahre mehrere Effizienzrekorde aufgestellt. Ihre \u00abRekordserie\u00bb begann im Jahr 1999 mit einer Effizienz von 12,8%, ging dann weiter auf 14,1% (2005), 17,6% (2010), 18,7% (2011) und 20,4 %(2013) und erreichte schliesslich 20,8% im Jahr 2019 und 21,4% im Jahr 2021. Angesichts der bereits sehr hohen Wirkungsgrade erfordere jede noch so kleine Steigerung aber eine sorgf\u00e4ltige Untersuchung der Faktoren, die die Energieumwandlung einschr\u00e4nken, und innovative Ans\u00e4tze zu deren Bew\u00e4ltigung, wie es heisst. Die aktuelle Steigerung des Wirkungsgrads geht auf die Legierung der lichtabsorbierenden Halbleiterschicht zur\u00fcck, deren elektronische Eigenschaften verbessert wurde.<\/p>\n

Breites Anwendungsspektrum<\/h3>\n

Flexible und leichte Solarmodule mit dieser Technologie eignen sich besonders f\u00fcr Anwendungen auf D\u00e4chern und Fassaden von Geb\u00e4uden, auf Gew\u00e4chsh\u00e4usern, Fahrzeugen und Luftschiffen sowie f\u00fcr tragbare Elektronik. Die Empa arbeitet mit der Schweizer Firma Flisom an der Rolle-zu-Rolle-Herstellung von leichten, flexiblen Solarmodulen f\u00fcr derartige Anwendungen. Die Forschung wurde vom Bundesamt f\u00fcr Energie (BFE) unterst\u00fctzt.<\/p>\n
