Die Covid-19-Pandemie, erkl\u00e4rt die Epidemiologin Tolullah Oni in einem aktuellen Fachbeitrag auf der Seite des WEF , habe das Bewusstsein f\u00fcr die erheblichen M\u00e4ngel in der st\u00e4dtischen Infrastruktur gesch\u00e4rft. Auch die mangelnde Aufmerksamkeit, die den Wechselwirkungen zwischen menschlicher Gesundheit, nat\u00fcrlichen Systemen und der urbanen Umwelt geschenkt werde, werde immer deutlicher. Der Fokus habe zu sehr auf Sicherung von Wohlstand und Ern\u00e4hrung gelegen, was zu st\u00e4rkerer Motorisierung in den St\u00e4dten gef\u00fchrt habe, ohne R\u00fccksicht darauf, dass es auch Raum f\u00fcr k\u00f6rperliche Bet\u00e4tigung in sauberer Luft geben m\u00fcsse. Die Bauweise der H\u00e4user bisher erh\u00f6he das Risiko von Krankheits\u00fcbertragungen. \u201eWir k\u00f6nnen und m\u00fcssen es besser machen, indem wir ein mutiges neues Investitionsprogramm f\u00fcr die Gesundheit des Planeten auf den Weg bringen\u201c, schreibt Tolullah Oni, Clinical Senior Research Associate an der Universit\u00e4t\u00a0Cambridge und Honorarprofessorin an der Universit\u00e4t Kapstadt.<\/p>\n

Konkrete Initiativen\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Im besten Fall stellt nach Ansicht von Oni das Vers\u00e4umnis, die negativen Auswirkungen der heutigen urbanen Umwelt entschieden anzugehen, eine verpasste Gelegenheit dar, gesunde Gemeinschaften zu erm\u00f6glichen. Obwohl mehrere globale philanthropische Initiativen durchaus auch mit Erfolgen versucht h\u00e4tten, die Gesundheit in den St\u00e4dten zu verbessern, brauchten die heutigen fehlerhaften Systeme einen grundlegenderen Wandel. Oni: \u201eEinfach ausgedr\u00fcckt: Die Welt braucht einen neuen Marshallplan f\u00fcr die planetarische Gesundheit – \u00e4hnlich wie einen New Deal f\u00fcr die Erholung nach einer Pandemie.\u201c<\/p>\n

Regierungen und Sektoren\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Regierungen wie der Privatsektor seien gefordert, politische Entscheidungstr\u00e4ger m\u00fcssten handeln und bessere Gesundheit und Widerstandsf\u00e4higkeit der Menschen, etwa in den Grossst\u00e4dten, solle nicht als Folge ihrer wirtschaftlichen Erfolge, sondern von vornherein als Ziel einer neuen urbanen Planung angesehen werden. Solche Ans\u00e4tze gebe es bereits, von Bhutan im Himalaya mit seinem Gl\u00fccksfaktor in der Messung des Bruttoinlandproduktes bis zu Neuseeland, wo eine sogenannte Wellbeing Economy angestrebt werde.<\/p>\n

\u201eHier k\u00f6nnten multilaterale Entwicklungsfinanzierungsinstitutionen (MDFI), wie die Afrikanische und die Asiatische Entwicklungsbank, helfen\u201c, schreibt Oni. Als nichtkommerzielle Organisationen, die Kapital f\u00fcr wirtschaftliche Entwicklungsprojekte in einem breiten Spektrum von Mitgliedsstaaten bereitstellen, seien\u00a0solche Institutionen in einer einzigartigen Position, um durch Auflagen bei der Kredit- und Mittelvergabe das Schema nach Art des Marshallplans voranzutreiben.<\/p>\n
