Allein im ersten Halbjahr 2025 verursachten Klimakatastrophen weltweit wirtschaftliche Sch\u00e4den von \u00fcber 162 Milliarden US-Dollar. Die Europ\u00e4ische Kommission sch\u00e4tzt den j\u00e4hrlichen Investitionsbedarf f\u00fcr Klimaanpassung in Europa auf 70 Milliarden Euro \u2013 tats\u00e4chlich fliessen bisher nur 20 bis 33 Milliarden Euro. Diese L\u00fccke will das neue Z\u00fcrcher Start-up Resilens schliessen.<\/p>\n

Das Problem: Daten sind vorhanden, L\u00f6sungen fehlen<\/h3>\n

Der Mangel an Klimadaten ist nicht das zentrale Problem. Was fehlt, ist die F\u00e4higkeit, diese Daten in umsetzbare und wirtschaftlich bewertete Massnahmen zu \u00fcbersetzen. \u00abEs fehlt an einem standardisierten und effizienten Verfahren, welches Vergleiche anstellt, den Nutzen beziffert und die Umsetzung \u00fcberpr\u00fcft. Die klassische Methode der Massnahmenbewertung ist daf\u00fcr zu teuer und langwierig\u00bb, sagt CEO Dr. Oliver Marchand.<\/p>\n

Marchand kennt die Schnittstelle zwischen Klimawissenschaft und Finanzwelt aus erster Hand: Er gr\u00fcndete Carbon Delta, ein Klima-Fintech, das MSCI 2019 \u00fcbernahm. Anschliessend leitete er als Global Head of Climate Risk Research das internationale Team f\u00fcr Klimarisikomodelle bei MSCI und etablierte den \u00abClimate Value-at-Risk\u00bb als globale Benchmark in der Finanzbranche.<\/p>\n

So funktioniert Resilens<\/h3>\n

Resilens kombiniert Geo- und Gefahrendaten, standortbezogene Risikoanalyse sowie Kosten-Nutzen-Rechnung auf Massnahmenebene in einer kontinuierlich aktualisierten Plattform. Im Kern steht die Kennzahl \u00abAdaptationReturn\u00bb, die den Nutzen jeder Anpassungsmassnahme an jedem Standort vor der Investition beziffert. Sie erfasst vermiedene Sch\u00e4den, wirtschaftlichen Mehrwert und soziale Co-Benefits wie Gesundheit, Arbeitsproduktivit\u00e4t und Bildungskontinuit\u00e4t. Gleichzeitig identifiziert sie Fehlanpassungsrisiken \u2013 also Investitionen, die wirkungslos oder kontraproduktiv w\u00e4ren.<\/p>\n

Damit geht Resilens \u00fcber die Bereitstellung eines Risikomodells hinaus und bietet belastbare Investitionsentscheidungen durch Massnahmenpriorisierung, Kostenkalkulation, Kennzahlen, F\u00f6rderf\u00e4higkeit und Umsetzungsverfolgung.<\/p>\n

Erste Pilotprojekte in Europa<\/h3>\n

Resilens f\u00fchrt derzeit mehrere Pilotprojekte durch, mit Fokus auf Hitzeanpassung f\u00fcr soziale Infrastruktur wie Senioreneinrichtungen, Schulen und Kindertagesst\u00e4tten. Ein akutes Problem, da die Sommer immer heisser werden und die Leistungsf\u00e4higkeit bereits ab 25 \u00b0C Innentemperatur sp\u00fcrbar nachl\u00e4sst.<\/p>\n

Im EU-gef\u00f6rderten Programm Pathways2Resilience unterst\u00fctzt Resilens die Stadt Worms beim Aufbau eines digitalen Dashboards f\u00fcr Klimaanpassung. Die Zusammenarbeit kn\u00fcpft an einen Pilot zum Hitzeschutz f\u00fcr 55 Kindertagesst\u00e4tten an und zeigt, wie Kommunen Klimaresilienz transparenter, datenbasierter und besser priorisierbar machen k\u00f6nnen.<\/p>\n

Erfahrenes Gr\u00fcnderteam<\/h3>\n

Neben CEO Dr. Oliver Marchand geh\u00f6ren zwei weitere Co-Founder zum Kernteam: Christian Schmelter verantwortet als CCO Marktpositionierung und Kommerzialisierung und bringt langj\u00e4hrige Erfahrung in der Skalierung digitaler Gesch\u00e4ftsmodelle mit, unter anderem bei Zattoo und Comparis. Die technologische Entwicklung der Plattform verantwortet CTO Dr. Stephan Heuel, promovierter Geoinformatiker mit Erfahrung in leitenden Rollen bei MSCI und EBP, mit Fokus auf Geoinformation, datengetriebenen L\u00f6sungen und digitaler Transformation.<\/p>\n

Als Senior Advisor ber\u00e4t James Grabert das Team. Grabert leitet seit fast 30 Jahren die Mitigation Division beim Klimasekretariat der Vereinten Nationen (UNFCCC) und war zuvor Analyst beim Weltwirtschaftsforum in Genf.<\/p>\n

Strategischer Investor aus der Klimadatenwelt<\/h3>\n

Resilens wird durch Eigenmittel der Gr\u00fcnder sowie Kapital des strategischen Investors Dr. Karl Gutbrod finanziert. Gutbrod baute meteoblue \u00fcber fast zwei Jahrzehnte zu einem der renommiertesten Anbieter f\u00fcr Wetter- und Klimadaten auf. \u00abHochwertige Klimadaten entfalten nur dann Wirkung, wenn sie auf reale Standorte angewendet und in bessere Entscheidungen \u00fcbersetzt werden. Genau diesen Weg schl\u00e4gt Resilens ein\u00bb, sagt Gutbrod.<\/p>\n

Launch an der ETH Z\u00fcrich im Rahmen der Z\u00fcrich Climate Week<\/h3>\n

Den \u00f6ffentlichen Startschuss gibt Resilens am 6. Mai 2026 im Rahmen der Z\u00fcrich Climate Week. Das Launch-Event findet in Partnerschaft mit Climada Technologies, einem ETH-Spin-off und Anbieter von Klimarisikodaten, in den R\u00e4umlichkeiten der ETH Z\u00fcrich statt. Im Rahmen des Events wird zudem eine Studie zum Hitzerisiko der Spit\u00e4ler im Kanton Z\u00fcrich ver\u00f6ffentlicht, die exemplarisch zeigt, wie standortgenaue Entscheidungsunterst\u00fctzung in der Praxis aussieht. Parallel dazu geht die Resilens-Plattform live \u2013 Kommunen, Unternehmen und Institutionen k\u00f6nnen ab diesem Datum eine Demo buchen und die Plattform 30 Tage kostenfrei testen.<\/p>\n
