Hingegen setzt etwa Amazon weiterhin auf Kohle- und Atomstrom, so das Ergebnis der j\u00fcngsten Ausgabe des Greenpeace-Reports \u201eGr\u00fcner Klicken\u201c. Da weltweit immer mehr Menschen Cloud- und Streaming-Dienste nutzen, steigt auch der Energiebedarf stark an. \u201eSchon jetzt verbrauchen Internetnutzer beim Streamen von Musik und Filmen gigantische Mengen an Strom. W\u00e4re das Internet ein Land, so h\u00e4tte es weltweit den sechsgr\u00f6ssten Stromverbrauch\u201c, sagt Niklas Schinerl, Energieexperte von Greenpeace. Damit auch die Internetwirtschaft einen Beitrag zum Klimaschutz liefert, fordert Greenpeace alle Internet- und Elektronikunternehmen auf, ihren Energiebedarf auf Erneuerbare Energien umzustellen.<\/p>\n<p>Der Greenpeace-Report untersucht die Lieferkette der 15 weltweit f\u00fchrenden Cloud Computing und Colocation-Anbieter und zeigt, wie die Energie f\u00fcr deren Rechenzentren produziert wird. Mit 83 Prozent Strom aus regenerativen Quellen belegt Apple das dritte Jahr in Folge den Spitzenplatz, gefolgt von Facebook (67 Prozent), Google (56 Prozent) und HP (50 Prozent). Besonders schlecht unter den bekannten Internetkonzernen schneidet Amazon Web Services (AWS) ab, ein Unternehmen, das Daten von Betreibern wie Netflix, Pinterest und Spotify hostet. AWS-Rechenzentren beziehen 30 Prozent Strom aus Kohlekraft, 26 Prozent Atomstrom und 24 Prozent Strom aus Gaskraftwerken. Lediglich 17 Prozent stammt aus Erneuerbaren Quellen.<\/p>\n<h3>Amazon, Netflix, Pinterest und Spotify setzen auf Kohle und Atom<\/h3>\n<p>Grossteils mit Kohle- und Atomstrom betreibt AWS auch Netflix, einen rasch wachsenden Streaming-Anbieter, der weltweit inzwischen etwa 83 Millionen Abonnenten z\u00e4hlt. Zu Spitzenzeiten machen \u00fcber Netflix gestreamte Serien und Spielfilme mehr als ein Drittel des Datenverkehrs in Nordamerika aus. \u201eWenn Amazon, Netflix und andere nicht schnell und konsequent auf Erneuerbare Energien umsteigen, werden sie zur Schmuddelecke im Klimaschutz\u201c, sagt Schinerl. Der Netflix-Host AWS nutzt zum Beispiel Datenzentren im US-Staat Virginia mit dem landesweit niedrigsten Anteil regenerativen Stroms. Greenpeace kritisiert zudem die mangelnde Transparenz bei der Stromversorgung von Amazon-Servern, auch in Deutschland.<br \/>\nSeit 2009 engagiert sich Greenpeace f\u00fcr eine nachhaltige Energieversorgung in der IT-Branche. Im Jahr 2017 wird der Sektor dreimal so viel Strom wie Deutschland verbrauchen. Facebook, Apple und Google verpflichteten sich vor vier Jahren zu 100 Prozent erneuerbarer Energie. Inzwischen versichern 20 Unternehmen, einschliesslich Cloud- und Colocation-Anbietern, ihren Energiebedarf ausschliessliche mit Erneuerbaren zu decken.
