K\u00fcnftig sollen PET-Flaschen aus Biomasse hergestellt werden.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Die beiden gr\u00f6ssten Anbieter von Flaschenwasser, Danone und Nestl\u00e9 Wasser wollen gemeinsam mit dem kalifornischen Startup Origin Materials<\/a> eine 100% erneuerbare PET-Flasche entwickeln, die auf kommerzieller Ebene eingesetzt werden kann. Das Projekt verwendet Biomasse aus Abf\u00e4llen – etwa gebrauchtes Karton oder S\u00e4gemehl. Damit soll die Herstellung der Flaschen keine zus\u00e4tzlichen Ressourcen und Landfl\u00e4chen ben\u00f6tigen und von der Lebens- und Futtermittelproduktion wegnehmen.<\/p>\n

Nachhaltige Ressourcen verwenden<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ziel ist, eine Kreislaufwirtschaft f\u00fcr Verpackungen zu erreichen, so der Entwicklungschef von Danone Frederic Jouin. Das soll auf der einen Seite durch die Verwendung nachhaltiger Ressourcen, auf der anderen Seite durch eine Zweitverwertung aller Plastikmaterialien geschehen. „Wir glauben, dass es m\u00f6glich ist, traditionelle fossile Materialien durch biobasierte Verpackungsmaterialien zu ersetzen“, so Jouin. Die neuen Flaschen sollen ebenso leicht, transparent, recyclierbar und vertr\u00e4glich mit dem Inhalt sein wie heutiges PET.<\/p>\n

Die heutige Technologie erm\u00f6glicht es, rund 30% biobasiertes PET in der Flaschenproduktion einzusetzen. Die Neuentwicklung soll diesen Anteil auf 100% steigern. Origin Materials schafft es bislang, Pilotprodukte mit bis zu 80% biobasiertem Material herzustellen; die kommerzielle Produktion von Flaschen mit 60+% biobasiertem PET soll im Jahr 2018 starten. Zun\u00e4chst sollen 5000 Tonnen des neuen Materials auf den Markt kommen. Die Vision der Allianz ist, bis zum Jahr 2020 PET-Flaschen mit mindestens 95% Bio-PET kommerziell herzustellen.<\/p>\n
