Klimamodelle zeigen, dass die Eisfl\u00e4che schon bei relativ geringem Anstieg der globalen Temperatur aufbrechen kann. L\u00f6st es sich ganz auf, so steigt der globale Meeresspiegel dadurch um drei Meter oder noch mehr. Bisher hat die Forschung allerdings angenommen, dass diese Auswirkungen erst in hunderten oder gar tausenden Jahre auftreten.<\/p>\n<p>Wie die <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2016\/03\/31\/science\/global-warming-antarctica-ice-sheet-sea-level-rise.html?hp&amp;action=click&amp;pgtype=Homepage&amp;clickSource=story-heading&amp;module=second-column-region&amp;region=top-news&amp;WT.nav=top-news&amp;_r=0\" target=\"_blank\" data-cke-saved-href=\"\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2016\/03\/31\/science\/global-warming-antarctica-ice-sheet-sea-level-rise.html?hp&amp;action=click&amp;pgtype=Homepage&amp;clickSource=story-heading&amp;module=second-column-region&amp;region=top-news&amp;WT.nav=top-news&amp;_r=0\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Times<\/a> berichtet, k\u00f6nnte dies allerdings schon viel fr\u00fcher geschehen: Forscher einer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nature.com\/nature\/journal\/v531\/n7596\/full\/nature17145.html\" target=\"_blank\" data-cke-saved-href=\"\/\/www.nature.com\/nature\/journal\/v531\/n7596\/full\/nature17145.html\" rel=\"noopener\">Studie<\/a>, die im rennomierten Wissenschaftsmagazin Nature ver\u00f6ffentlicht wurde, kamen zum Schluss, dass sich der Schild bereits innerhalb weniger Jahrzehnte abbauen wird &#8211; falls der Ausstoss von Treibhausgasen so weitergeht wie bisher.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Anstieg um einen Meter<\/strong><br \/>\nBis zum Jahr 2100, so die Forscher, k\u00f6nnte sich dadurch der Meeresspiegel bereits um einen Meter anheben &#8211; mit katastrophalen Auswirkungen. Das ist ungef\u00e4hr doppelt so viel, wie das bisherige Worst-Case-Szenario der UN angibt.<\/p>\n<p>Danach wird es laut Klimaberechnungen\u00a0noch schlimmer: alle 10 Jahre soll sich der Meeresspiegel um rund 30 cm anheben, bis er rund 4 Meter \u00fcber dem heutigen Level liegt.
