GastroSuisse with new director

The Board of GastroSuisse has appointed Kareen Vaisbrot (47) as the new Director of the largest employers' association for the hotel and restaurant industry in Switzerland. The experienced lawyer with many years of management experience and a broad network in the association and politics will take up her position on December 1, 2025 at the latest.

The 47-year-old lawyer has been Head of Employer Policy at Swissmem, the leading association for SMEs and large companies in the Swiss tech industry, as a member of the Executive Board for ten years. She is responsible for core political issues relating to employer and social policy matters, maintaining the social partnership and labor law services. In this role, she is also a member of the Suva Council, the management body of Switzerland's largest accident insurer. Kareen Vaisbrot is a dual Swiss-French citizen, her mother tongue is French and she speaks fluent German. In the fall, she will complete her Certificate of Advanced Studies in Economics and Politics at the University of St. Gallen (HSG). As a proven and long-standing manager, she has a strong network in the areas of associations, politics, business and society. She was previously responsible for the French-speaking part of Switzerland for five years at Swissmem. Before joining Swissmem, Kareen Vaisbrot worked as a freelance lawyer.

The GastroSuisse Board of Directors is setting the course for the future: under the experienced leadership of Kareen Vaisbrot, the association is to be strategically aligned with upcoming challenges and the industry and association image strengthened. "With her personality and excellent track record, Kareen Vaisbrot has everything she needs for this challenging task," emphasizes Beat Imhof President on behalf of the entire Board of Directors. GastroSuisse is the association for the hotel and restaurant industry in Switzerland. Around 20,000 members, including around 2,500 hotels, organized in 26 cantonal associations and five specialist groups, belong to the largest employers' association in the hospitality industry.
