New Bachelor in Business IT & Digital Transformation at the HSLU
Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts is launching a new Bachelor's degree course in fall 2025 that combines the fields of computer science, business and digital innovation. The Business IT & Digital Transformation course is aimed at anyone who wants to drive the digital future and strategically implement technologies such as artificial intelligence in companies.

The rapid developments in digital technologies such as artificial intelligence pose major challenges for current and future generations, but they also open up new opportunities. They have already brought about far-reaching changes in many areas: in companies as well as in politics, society and the environment.
Developing modern and sustainable business models
For people who want to play an active role in shaping this digital transformation, Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts will be offering the new Bachelor's degree course "Business IT & Digital Transformation" at the Department of Computer Science in Rotkreuz from the fall semester of 2025. This was decided by the Concordat Council of the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts at its meeting on May 16, 2025. "Our students learn how to use new technologies in a targeted manner to develop modern and sustainable business models," says course director Peter Wullschleger. "For example, we show them how to use artificial intelligence, virtual reality and digital platforms to create effective solutions for companies."
Interdisciplinary cooperation
The course combines computer science with business knowledge. This is ensured by lecturers from the Department of Business, who are deployed in the business-oriented modules of the course. The aim is to train specialists who can operate confidently in both worlds - technology and business. "It is precisely this profile that is in demand in many companies today," Peter Wullschleger is convinced. For example, graduates develop strategies for the digital transformation of companies and their business models, manage complex IT projects and set up digital systems. In doing so, they often work on real issues from practice. They can be employed in a wide range of roles, from management functions in IT companies to managing individual business areas and staff positions in various industries.
Part-time and modular structure
The course (starting in fall 2025) can be completed full-time or part-time. There are various specializations. Semesters abroad are also possible. An important part of the course is the close connection with research, for example in the fields of robotics and artificial intelligence.
The degree program has a modular structure and allows for individual specialization in areas such as Digital Transformation Engineering, Digital Entrepreneurship, Digital Integration Engineering or Digital Business Analysis.
