Today is recycling day

On March 18, 2018, the Global Recycling Foundation launched Recycling Day for the first time to highlight the great importance of recycling for the future of the planet. Because recycling not only conserves resources and keeps them in the material cycle, but also reduces CO2 pollution and saves energy.

With the help of life cycle assessments, the concrete benefits of recycling systems become clear: Recycling in Switzerland, for example, achieves an environmental benefit that compensates for the annual residential energy needs of 790,000 people - that's the residents of Zurich, Basel, Bern and Lucerne combined, as Swiss Recycling, the umbrella organization of Swiss recycling systems, calculates.

In order to raise awareness of the issue in this country as well, the organization has made its new Recycling Day posters (see illustration) available free of charge to municipalities, collection points as well as recycling and works yards. In the spirit of the current Swiss Recycling campaign, these call for "Become a Bünzli and save the world". not only to separate and collect, but also to return them to the nearest collection point. True to the motto: Everyone can do their part to protect resources and the climate.
