Thomas Gasser becomes new COO at Pistor
From May 2026, Thomas Gasser will take over the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) at wholesaler Pistor. The 45-year-old logistics and supply chain expert succeeds Richard Betschart, who is retiring after 19 commendable years.

Pistor, a supplier to the bakery, catering and healthcare markets, reliably delivers over 120,000 tons of goods throughout Switzerland every year. This performance is backed by a technologically advanced logistics system with sophisticated goods flows, digital control and qualified employees. From May 2026, Thomas Gasser will be responsible for further developing this highly automated logistics system in a future-oriented manner: the 45-year-old will now be responsible for the goods handling centers, distribution and infrastructure development at Pistor.
Broad expertise and academic background
After many years at Migros, Gasser was most recently COO at Brack.Alltron. «We are extremely pleased that we have been able to recruit Thomas Gasser for Pistor,» emphasizes Daniel Eichenberger, Chairman of the Board of Directors. «With his expertise in the field of automated logistics systems, his broad management experience and his value-oriented personality, he is an excellent fit for our company.»
Gasser also has a strong academic background: Forward-looking topics such as digital transformation and supply chain management are just as much a part of this as degrees from the University of St. Gallen, IMD Lausanne and Harvard Business School.
Richard Betschart retires
The current incumbent, Richard Betschart, has been Head of Logistics and a member of the Executive Board at Pistor for 19 years. He is due to retire at the end of June 2026. Chairman of the Board of Directors Daniel Eichenberger acknowledges Betschart's achievements: «Thanks to him and his team, Pistor has innovative logistics and the most efficient supply chain on the market.» In recent years, the company has also invested heavily in logistics automation and digital infrastructure for the benefit of its customers. «I believe Pistor is ideally positioned for the future and would like to thank Richard Betschart for his commitment,» says Eichenberger.
