Platinum Plus certification for Digital Realty's ZUR2 data center
Digital Realty, a provider of cloud and carrier-neutral data center, colocation and interconnection solutions, announced that its ZUR2 data center in Zurich has become the first data center in the world to be awarded the Platinum Plus certificate by the Swiss Datacenter Efficiency Association (SDEA).
The SDEA is dedicated to improving the environmental impact of data centers and certifies companies that meet particularly high sustainability and environmental standards. Digital Realty is the first company in the world to receive Platinum Plus certification - the highest honor ever awarded by the SDEA - underscoring the company's continued leadership in environmental performance and innovation across its global platform.
Significant milestone
With outstanding operational performance metrics - including a PUE⁺ of 1.10, a CUE⁺ of 0.02 and a WUE⁺ of 0.00 - ZUR2 sets a new benchmark for sustainable data center operations, achieving the highest award in the SDEA's independent, measurement-based certification framework. «Receiving the first ever Platinum Plus certification is a significant milestone for Digital Realty and a testament to our commitment to sustainability-driven innovation,» says Yves Zischek, Managing Director of Digital Realty in Switzerland. «ZUR2 exemplifies how operational excellence and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand, creating measurable benefits for our clients and communities.»
Highest standard for data center efficiency
SDEA certification is based on independently verified performance data and evaluates data centers based on key sustainability indicators, including Energy Efficiency (PUE⁺), Carbon Efficiency (CUE⁺) and Water Usage Efficiency (WUE⁺). Unlike design-based certifications, the SDEA focuses on actual operational performance, providing a transparent and reliable benchmark for the industry. «This is the first Platinum Plus certification - not only for Digital Realty, but also for the SDEA,» says SDEA President Babak Falsafi. «This level of performance represents the highest standard of data center efficiency currently achievable and demonstrates what is possible through rigorous measurement and continuous optimization.»
Digital Realty continues to drive its sustainability strategy through innovation, transparency and measurable results, helping clients achieve their own environmental goals while increasing the efficiency of its global data center platform.
