New director and a new campus for IST
Catherine Raemy, an industry expert with many years of experience, is taking over the management of the IST School of Tourism with campuses in Zurich and Lausanne. The previous director, Xoana Janner, is moving to a new position within the Vantage Education Group. In addition, the campus in Zurich has been completely redesigned and the number of students has returned to pre-corona levels.

Former IST graduate and long-time lecturer Catherine Raemy will take over as General Director of IST on September 15. The trilingual (DE/FR/EN) communications specialist and marketing expert has a wide range of industry experience. Most recently, she worked for Flughafen Zürich AG, before that she was Head of Marketing Communications at the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn/Gornergrat Bahn in Brig, and also worked for Switzerland Tourism and dnata Switzerland AG. Raemy completed several CAS courses (tourism economics, brand management, customer psychology) and has an EMBA in marketing management.
A graduate of the IST herself
"I am very much looking forward to my new role at IST and being able to help shape the future of the new generation of tourism professionals," says Catherine Raemy, who herself graduated from IST in 2010 with a degree in tourism and has since worked part-time as a lecturer and expert for theses at the school. After exactly two years as head of the entire school, Xoana Janner is moving within the Vantage Education Group to the position of Sales Director of BVS St. Gallen and HSO, the largest school in the group.
"We are very grateful for everything that Xoana Janner has built up and implemented at IST over the past two years and at the same time happy to have found such an experienced professional who is familiar with the industry for this position in Catherine Raemy," says Lavdim Durmishi, Managing Director IST Zurich & Lausanne. "This will allow us to seamlessly build on the innovations and successes of the recent past. More than 40 HF students are starting in Zurich this fall semester, so the post-corona turnaround is more than complete."
New campus - a commitment to Zurich as a location
The Vantage Group's major investment in the infrastructure and interior design of IST is a real commitment to the Zurich location. The rooms on Josefstrasse have been redesigned with great attention to detail to create a state-of-the-art learning and working environment. In addition to the latest technology already installed for hybrid teaching, additional tools such as smart boards are now available, enabling even more interactive and flexible teaching.
