ANYbotics wins the Export Award 2025

ANYbotics AG from Zurich is setting new standards in industrial automation with its autonomous four-legged inspection robot. On 30 April, it received the Export Award 2025 from Switzerland Global Enterprise (S-GE) for its successful internationalization strategy.

ANYbotics AG, which currently employs around 200 people, develops and produces the four-legged inspection robot "ANYmal" for industrial applications. Thanks to artificial intelligence and a 360-degree sensor system, the robust and weatherproof robot navigates completely autonomously and also masters stairs, narrow spaces and water channels on its tours of industrial facilities. In doing so, it collects precise data, enables more efficient operation and increases occupational safety. For example, the robot detects gas leaks and can perform tasks where people could otherwise be exposed to materials such as acid or nuclear radiation in hazardous working environments.

Strong roots in Switzerland

In just a few years, ANYbotics has established itself as one of the world's leading providers in the field of industrial automation. The ETH Zurich spin-off is rooted in the Swiss robotics ecosystem and has benefited from the high-quality Swiss environment since it was founded in 2016: the large talent pool, the attractive industrial cluster and the stable and innovation-friendly framework conditions for young companies.

Focus on core competencies and core markets

The company consistently focuses on industries in the "energy", "mining, metals and minerals", "chemicals" and "oil and gas" sectors. Accordingly, it has focused on global markets from the outset, with S-GE's global network serving as an ideal starting point for market development. "When opening up new markets, we are guided by our four vertical target markets as well as the presence and needs of our multinational key customers," explains CCO Enzo Wälchli. To this end, the company has built up a global partner network in just three years and opened a US site in San Francisco in 2024 to gain access to the world's largest robot market.

Award presentation at the Aussenwirtschaftsforum

Due to its export successes, the company was selected as the winner of the Export Award 2025 chosen. "ANYbotics AG pursues a consistent growth strategy with clear decision-making criteria," says jury president Ralph Siegl. "It has the courage to say 'no' when an opportunity doesn't fit. Its international expansion consistently follows its strengths. The jury was very impressed by this clarity and straightforwardness." The company won out over the cosmetics company Cellcosmet from Châtel-Saint-Denis and the telecommunications company GMS from Baar. S-GE Chairman of the Board of Directors Ruth Metzler-Arnold presented the Export Award at this year's Foreign Trade Forum from April 30, 2025 at the Congress Center Basel.

Change in the jury presidium

The Export Award is presented by the export promotion organization S-GE successful, internationally active companies that impress with their expansion strategy and innovative market development. Ralph Siegl, Managing Partner of Exports for Leaders, announced the winner for the last time this year. After eleven years on the jury, including seven years as President, he is leaving the committee. "We would like to thank Ralph Siegl for his many years of commitment and his valuable work," says Ruth Metzler-Arnold. "He has played a key role in shaping the further development of the Export Awards in recent years." Martin Naville, Partner Trusted Board Advisors and Senior Advisor to the Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce, will succeed him as jury president ad interim for 2026.
