It has almost become a tradition: No Rhine Valley Economic Forum without an appearance by a Federal Councillor. For the 2026 edition on January 16, once again in the Aegeten sports hall in Widnau, Martin Pfister has been invited to speak. His appearance promises to provide valuable impetus for decision-makers from business and politics - especially in times of growing uncertainty.

Security policy at first hand

Martin Pfister has been a member of the Federal Council since April 2025. Prior to this, he was a member of the cantonal government of Zug for nine years and headed the Health Directorate. Pfister has many years of political experience and in-depth knowledge of associations and the security sector. In his presentation "Strong Switzerland - Paths to a sustainable security strategy", he will show how Switzerland can strengthen its security policy position in an increasingly fragile world.

Strategies for turbulent times

Global uncertainties, fragile supply chains and geopolitical crises are shaping the world situation. The Rhine Valley Economic Forum is therefore dedicated to the question of how business and politics can maintain their ability to act and resilience in this situation. Under the title "Security and strength in turbulent times", experts from business and politics will provide concrete answers and impetus.

Impulses from leading personalities

In addition to Federal Councillor Martin Pfister, the program will also feature other renowned personalities: German security expert Dr. Claudia Major will analyse the geopolitical situation and its consequences for Europe and Switzerland. Prof. Ferdinand Dudenhöffer, one of the best-known automotive experts, will talk about the future of the automotive industry in the area of conflict between electrification, tariffs and supply chains. Jens Breu, CEO of the SFS Group, and Matthias Wolf, CEO of Kühne + Nagel Switzerland, two experienced business leaders will discuss the challenges of global supply chains. An inspirational session focusing on robotics and artificial intelligence will also provide new perspectives. Brothers Peter and Enrico Lenzin will provide the musical backdrop, while Sonja Hasler will host the event.
