Simon Spalinger new member of the Management Board and Lead for Software Development and AI at Abraxas

The Board of Directors of Abraxas has appointed Simon Spalinger, a proven software and AI expert, as the new Head of Solution Engineering and member of the Executive Board. Spalinger succeeds Peter Gassmann, who is leaving the company at the end of July 2026. With this appointment, the Board of Directors is underlining the strategic importance of software development and artificial intelligence for the company.

Key role for software development and AI

Software development and artificial intelligence are among the central fields of action in Abraxas' corporate strategy. The Solution Engineering division, with around 110 employees, plays a key role in this. Spalinger, a leader with more than two decades of experience in software development, technological expertise and corporate management as well as proven AI expertise, is taking over the management of the division.

The Board of Directors appointed Spalinger as Head of Solution Engineering and member of the Executive Board in mid-August. As a previous member of the Board of Directors, he has been very familiar with the strategy, customers and the company since 2024. This ensures a swift and seamless takeover of operational responsibility. Spalinger will take over from Peter Gassmann on August 10.

Targeted AI expansion in the past year

In the past year, Abraxas has systematically established and expanded its activities in the field of artificial intelligence. These include an AI consulting team, a sovereign AI platform and the first AI-supported solutions for the public sector.

About the person: Simon Spalinger

52-year-old Simon Spalinger comes from Marthalen (ZH) and is a Software Engineer ETH. He has more than 20 years of experience in the IT sector. He held various management positions at Avaloq, founded the Solution Architects Group and most recently the AI company RWAI. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of Abraxas since 2024. He has now stepped down from this body for compliance reasons.
