Revizto Opens Up Its Ecosystem with a New API and AI Integration

Using the Model & Object Properties API and an MCP server, Revizto enables AECO companies to access their project data programmatically—and to securely integrate existing AI tools. Data sovereignty remains the top priority.

AI is no longer just a topic for the future—not even in the AECO industry (Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Owner). The question today is whether AI actually delivers tangible added value in real-world project environments. A key obstacle here is that project data remains trapped in silos, and integrating AI tools often requires weeks of custom development work. Revizto addresses this challenge with two new features that fundamentally expand the platform’s ecosystem.

From a Coordination Tool to an Open Ecosystem

With the introduction of the Model & Object Properties API and the MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, Revizto is opening up its platform for programmatic data access. The Model & Object Properties API is a read-only interface that provides access to comprehensive model metadata and detailed object properties—including fire resistance classes, material specifications, and quantities. The MCP Server acts as a standards-based, no-code connector that allows companies to securely and directly connect their preferred AI assistants—including Claude, Microsoft Copilot, and ChatGPT—to Revizto project data.

Until now, BIM and VDC managers were often forced to act as «human APIs»: If a project manager needed information about building components, equipment, or project status, someone had to manually open the model, export the data, process it, and forward it. By the time the information arrived, it was often already out of date—with corresponding consequences for decisions and costs.

Data Sovereignty as a Fundamental Principle

A key focus of the new architecture is control over sensitive project data. Revizto’s solution is designed so that the AI accesses the data, not the other way around. AI processing takes place within the customer’s trusted infrastructure—project data and intellectual property never leave the controlled corporate environment.

The relevance of this question is also reflected in the numbers: According to the Revizto Market Survey 2026, 94 percent of CIOs in Switzerland are concerned about data sovereignty within their companies. For about one-fifth of Swiss CIOs, a lack of use cases is the biggest obstacle to adopting AI.

Henry Börner, a BIM manager and expert at the globally active consulting firm Drees & Sommer, headquartered in Stuttgart, sees significant potential in the new API endpoints: «Revizto’s new API endpoints open up significantly expanded possibilities for us in data analysis and automation. In addition to the alphanumeric data of the building component elements, model-related metadata—such as the last synchronization times or the model author—can now also be directly retrieved and analyzed.”.

When combined with the existing API interfaces—which provide comprehensive information on collision tests, clash results, and issue tickets—this creates a powerful data foundation for customized analyses and data-driven processes. This allows project information to be presented with even greater transparency, enables a better understanding of interrelationships, and opens up new possibilities for reporting, monitoring, and optimizing digital project workflows.»

Developer Portal with OAuth 2.0 Authentication

The new features are supported by a developer portal that offers standardized application registration and OAuth 2.0 authentication. This provides developers with a structured foundation for securely integrating Revizto data into existing workflows and custom applications.
