10 Years of Kemaro: From Eschlikon to the World

The Swiss technology company Kemaro is celebrating its 10th anniversary. What began in 2016 as an idea conceived by three engineers has grown into an international provider of autonomous cleaning solutions with customers in over 40 countries. The company’s next phase of growth will focus on North America.

Kemaro was founded in 2016 by three Swiss engineers with a vision to rethink industrial cleaning through autonomous robotics. Ten years later, the company—headquartered in Eschlikon—employs 66 people from 14 countries and operates in more than 40 countries. Industrial and logistics companies worldwide rely on the solutions provided by this Thurgau-based technology company.

CEO and Co-Founder Armin Koller looks back on a decade marked by courage and consistent growth: «Ten years of Kemaro stand for the courage to break new ground. What began as the vision of three engineers has grown into an internationally active technology company with customers and partners around the world. Our next phase of growth will focus on international expansion and the further development of our software and platform solutions, which form the foundation for the next generation of autonomous industrial cleaning.»

The U.S. as the Key Market for the Next Phase of Growth

With this anniversary, Kemaro is entering a new phase of international growth. The focus is on further expanding the company’s global presence—particularly in North America. The U.S. market for warehouse automation is expected to more than triple, growing from approximately $5.2 billion in 2023 to over $16.6 billion by 2030.

As automation in logistics and production increases, so do the demands for clean and reliable operating environments. Wherever autonomous vehicles, mobile robots, and automated systems are used, stable processes are a fundamental requirement. Kemaro helps companies meet these requirements with autonomous cleaning solutions.

Co-founder and CSO Thomas Oberholzer will be responsible for expanding the U.S. business directly on the ground starting in August 2026. «Our journey began in Eschlikon—but our vision was international from the very start. The U.S. offers enormous potential for intelligent automation. Together with our customers and partners, we want to develop solutions that address real-world challenges in industry and logistics and enable the next generation of automated processes,» says Oberholzer.

From Robotics Pioneer to Intelligent Automation Platform

With the K900, Kemaro laid the foundation for its international success. Today, this autonomous cleaning solution is used by industrial and logistics companies around the world. At the same time, Kemaro is evolving from a specialist in autonomous cleaning to a provider of comprehensive automation solutions: In addition to robotics, software, data, and digital services are becoming increasingly important.

The cloud-based Sphere platform enables users to centrally manage robot fleets, plan operations, and analyze operational data. The technology is based on AI models that have been trained on over one million hours of real-world operational data from industrial environments.

Co-founder Martin Gadient emphasizes the company’s systemic approach: «Innovation has been part of our DNA from the very beginning. Today, we no longer view robotics as a single product, but as a networked system. Our goal is to develop intelligent automation solutions that make industrial companies worldwide more efficient and better prepared for the future.»

Ten years—and the start of a new phase

For Kemaro, this anniversary does not mark the end, but rather the beginning of a new phase of development. Global challenges such as a shortage of skilled workers, increasing occupational safety requirements, and the desire for more efficient processes continue to drive automation in industry and logistics. With Swiss engineering, a growing international presence, and the consistent expansion of its platform technologies, Kemaro continues to strengthen its position as a global technology company for industrial automation.
