Carl Elsener receives the Club 55 Lifetime Award
On June 1, 2026, Club 55 presented Victorinox CEO Carl Elsener Jr. with the Lifetime Award. The award ceremony took place during the annual Club 55 Congress in Alicante. The Carl Elsener Lifetime Award recognizes a lifetime entrepreneurial achievement that combines business success with values, regional ties and social responsibility.
Carl Elsener Jr. has led Victorinox, based in Ibach in the canton of Schwyz, as CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors since 2007. Under his leadership, the company known for its Swiss Army Knife has developed into a global multi-product brand with business areas in knives, watches, luggage and perfumes, according to the press release. Today, Victorinox sells its products in around 120 countries and employs around 2,100 people.
Identity preserved, brand expanded globally
The Club 55 jury emphasized that Elsener had achieved internationalization and brand growth without sacrificing the company's identity. Proof of this attitude is the foundation model he helped to shape, which is intended to secure Victorinox's independence and combine economic strength with charitable commitment.
René Michael Weber, President of Club 55, summarized the jury's decision as follows: «Carl Elsener shows that great brands are not created through volume, but through clarity, consistency and values. He does not think in quarters, but in generations. This is exactly what the Lifetime Award stands for.»
