What does ChatGPT know about a Swiss company? Can artificial intelligence accurately categorize its business activities, services, and areas of expertise? And what information is missing that would allow a company to be considered as a potential provider in response to relevant search queries? The Swiss information platform HELP.CH has expanded its company directory—which features over 850,000 company profiles—with a new AI check feature. Users can use this feature to launch a customized company analysis with ChatGPT directly from an existing company profile. The feature combines traditional company search with new possibilities for AI-powered research.

From Looking Up Information to Analyzing It

Until now, business directories have primarily been used to find companies and retrieve information such as addresses, industries, legal structures, or commercial registry entries. With the increasing use of generative AI, new opportunities are emerging to analyze this information and place it in a broader context.

HELP.CH is therefore expanding its existing company profiles to include direct access to AI analysis. The process is simple: Users open a company profile on HELP.CH and select the new «AI Check» feature. An information page directs them to ChatGPT, where a pre-formulated analysis request for the selected company is initiated.

ChatGPT then generates a customized assessment based on the information available during the analysis process. The responses can be directly challenged, explored in greater depth through additional questions, and verified using the sources provided.

What information does AI need to properly categorize companies?

A company may be discoverable in search engines and business directories without its services and specific areas of expertise being adequately described. For AI-powered searches, therefore, it is not solely a matter of whether a company name appears on the Internet. It is equally important that the available information is understandable, up-to-date, and can be clearly categorized.

The new AI check addresses these questions. For example, the analysis can reveal whether the business activities are presented in a transparent manner, which services are publicly identifiable, and whether key company information is missing. It is important to distinguish between a company’s discoverability and a well-founded recommendation in response to a specific customer inquiry.

The analysis is an individual AI assessment and not a guaranteed measurement of actual visibility or recommendation frequency in ChatGPT or other AI systems.

Over 850,000 existing company profiles as a starting point

Unlike many standalone AI analysis tools, research on HELP.CH begins directly with an existing company profile. Users do not first have to gather company information or formulate their own analysis request.

Depending on the company, the Swiss Business Directory provides commercial register information, industry classifications, locations, company descriptions, and other publicly available details. The information comes from various sources and is compiled in a structured manner within the HELP.CH network.

The AI analysis adds a new way to use this information: It transforms the traditional search for company data into a gateway to interactive company research. HELP.CH does not rely on a blanket AI score. The actual analysis takes place in ChatGPT. Users can evaluate the results themselves and ask follow-up questions.

A New Role for Digital Business Directories

AI-powered research is also changing the role of existing business directories. In addition to providing company data, their structure, clarity, and usability for digital assistant systems are becoming increasingly important.

With this new feature, HELP.CH combines its information resources—built up since 1996—with an additional search option. The AI Check is designed for companies, business partners, customers, and other interested parties who wish to analyze publicly available company information beyond the scope of a traditional search. The AI Check and company directory are available at www.help.ch/firma/ accessible.

HELP.CH has been online since September 1, 1996. Operated by HELP Media AG, this Swiss information and business network now comprises more than 200 specialized portals, approximately 2,500 domains, and over one million company and organization profiles. Its offerings include company and industry directories, specialized and media portals, event information, and structured corporate and economic data.
