Pistor with new distribution center in Eastern Switzerland
Wholesaler Pistor has been supplying its customers in Eastern Switzerland from its new distribution center in Sennwald since 12 May 2025. Up to 85 tons of food and goods are delivered to bakeries, restaurants and the healthcare market every day. The focus here is on sustainability.

After a construction period of around one year, the new Pistor distribution center opened for business on the morning of 12 May 2025. The wholesaler's customers in Eastern Switzerland are now supplied directly from Sennwald. "The start went smoothly," says Pistor's Head of Logistics Richard Betschart. "Thanks to our continuous investment in infrastructure, Pistor's customers have the most reliable and efficient supply chain available on the wholesale market." In particular, the Eastern Switzerland distribution center enables shorter distances and sustainable delivery. "Sustainability is a major concern for our customers - and we are happy to comply with this request." For example, Pistor transports the goods overnight by train from the headquarters in Rothenburg to Sennwald before they are distributed further by truck. This saves over 400,000 kilometers on the road every year. In addition, the building is made of wood, which prevents 670 tons of CO2, and a solar system, an underground storage tank and a rainwater washing system for the trucks and train carriages are in operation.
21 employees and 14 trucks in action
Pistor no longer just supplies bakeries and confectioners, but also the catering and healthcare markets. The company is constantly growing. The delivery volumes are correspondingly large: "We expect daily deliveries of up to 85 tons from Sennwald," says Richard Betschart. 21 employees work on site, most of whom are truck drivers. Three of the 14 trucks are electrically powered - a number that will rise to eight in the next few years, according to the company.
