New register facilitates local electricity models in Switzerland
Anyone wishing to set up a local electricity community or an association for self-consumption can now find a new register for billing service providers on lokalerstrom.ch. Swissolar and the VSE are thus creating more transparency and simplifying the implementation of decentralized electricity projects.

With the growing interest in decentralized electricity production and self-consumption, the need for professional support is also increasing. On the information platform www.lokalerstrom.ch a new register for billing service providers is now available. Swissolar and the Association of Swiss Electricity Companies (VSE) are thus creating more transparency in the market and simplifying the implementation of local electricity projects.
Central overview of billing service providers
Many initiators of local electricity models need support in consulting, implementation, operation and billing. Until now, there has been no central overview of the relevant providers. The new register on lokalerstrom.ch closes this gap: It offers a structured overview of service providers - from private providers to energy suppliers and distribution network operators - including contact details and information on their services.
The providers can be filtered by language, region and range of services, among other things. Other providers can now enter themselves in the register; entries are checked for plausibility before publication.
Neutral platform for locally produced electricity
The platform is aimed at municipalities, companies, property owners and private individuals who want to implement local electricity models. It facilitates planning and implementation with neutral and up-to-date information, templates and practical tools. Local electricity - i.e. electricity that is produced and consumed directly on site, often from renewable energy sources such as solar - helps to increase security of supply and reduce energy costs.
Models such as the local electricity community (LEG) and the (virtual) association for self-consumption ((v)ZEV) make it possible to share electricity within neighborhoods, buildings or communities. The platform also offers distribution system operators support in implementing the frequently changing and increasingly complex regulations.
Further information on the implementation of ZEV, vZEV and LEG can be found at www.lokalerstrom.ch available.
