Numerous young people have to look for an apprenticeship during the Corona crisis and many training companies still have open apprenticeship positions. The career choice process is not an easy undertaking for either side if social distancing is to be adhered to. But there are new ways to reach young people: by means of video communication. Online instruction in schools has already shown that this works. Now it's time for apprenticeship companies to jump on the bandwagon and look for prospective apprentices via digital channels. The Engine association<\/a> has created a platform for this.<\/p>\n

Reach young people via videos and recruit them as learners<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Various apprentices from the regions of St.Gallen, Oberthurgau and Rorschach have made videos about their apprenticeship. They talk about their daily routine, the work they do, what is expected of them and why they chose this profession. More than 30 videos are already online on the website of the Triebwerk association, including professions such as advertising designer, food technologist, fa\u00e7ade builder, construction engineer and building technology planner. More will be added on an ongoing basis. Vocational trainers also introduce themselves and give tips on how to find out more and apply for jobs. Of course, videos on apprenticeships can also be found on association and education platforms, but when apprentices and vocational trainers from the region make personal videos, this leaves a more authentic impression. After all, the students are looking for an apprenticeship on their doorstep, so they feel more addressed. In addition, the Triebwerk association is in close contact with the high schools and many teachers include the videos in their career choice lessons. This gives the apprenticeship companies the chance to reach young people in a different way and to give students an insight into regional apprenticeship companies.<\/p>\n

Web meetings instead of info events<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Getting to know each other for the first time can also be done via a web meeting and can replace the classic information event. The Triebwerk association has created a guide for companies that provides them with tips on how to conduct such a meeting online. In addition, all scheduled web meetings are communicated to the regional high school centers on a weekly basis. The training companies can find out more about this at www.berufsbildnerblog.ch<\/a>. Both the video messages and the web meetings point out: Even if the lockdown limits career choices, there are ways to go about the application process. You just have to be a little more inventive.<\/p>\n

Donation appeal on lokalhelden.ch<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The association Triebwerk has set up the video campaign of apprentices and training companies within a short period of time and without any financial support. And this out of the conviction: One must support the young people immediately. However, in order to be able to achieve even more with this platform, the association is dependent on financial support.
