(Image : depositphotos)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Le monoxyde de carbone se forme lors d'une combustion incompl\u00e8te du carburant et devrait \u00eatre \u00e9vit\u00e9, et pas seulement en raison de ses effets nocifs sur la sant\u00e9. Comme les fabricants de moteurs tendent de plus en plus \u00e0 construire des moteurs plus petits, une plus grande quantit\u00e9 de gaz toxique est lib\u00e9r\u00e9e. Selon des chercheurs du d\u00e9partement de g\u00e9nie m\u00e9canique de l'universit\u00e9 technique de Darmstadt, ce downsizing entra\u00eene une augmentation de la pr\u00e9sence de monoxyde de carbone.<\/p>\n<p>\"Il y fait plus froid qu'\u00e0 l'int\u00e9rieur du cylindre, c'est pourquoi les processus coupl\u00e9s de r\u00e9action et de transport se d\u00e9roulent diff\u00e9remment sur les parois. Mais nous ne nous attendions pas \u00e0 une concentration aussi \u00e9lev\u00e9e de monoxyde de carbone \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 des parois\", explique Sebastian B\u00fcrkle, directeur du domaine de recherche sp\u00e9cial Transregio 150.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Les simulations sur ordinateur sont importantes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Les interactions flamme-paroi \u00e9tant plus marqu\u00e9es dans les petits moteurs, le probl\u00e8me est plus grave au niveau des parois que dans les machines de plus grande cylindr\u00e9e. La cause des taux \u00e9lev\u00e9s de monoxyde de carbone a \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 mise en \u00e9vidence par le ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne, notamment gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des simulations sur ordinateur. \"Nos calculs montrent que le monoxyde de carbone ne se forme pas \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 des parois, mais qu'il s'y accumule en raison de l'\u00e9coulement\", explique Guido K\u00fcnne, co-auteur de l'\u00e9tude.<\/p>\n<p>Les r\u00e9sultats ne sont pas seulement pertinents pour les constructeurs automobiles, mais aussi pour les concepteurs de moteurs d'avion. Une nouvelle technique, la combustion dite \"lean burn\", r\u00e9duit certes les \u00e9missions d'oxyde d'azote de l'aviation. Mais comme la flamme br\u00fble alors plus pr\u00e8s de la paroi, la concentration de monoxyde de carbone augmente.<\/p>\n<p>La quantit\u00e9 de polluants pourrait \u00eatre r\u00e9duite en modifiant la g\u00e9om\u00e9trie de la chambre de combustion ou en augmentant la temp\u00e9rature des parois.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/\/www.tu-darmstadt.de\">http:\/\/www.tu-darmstadt.de<\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kohlenmonoxid entsteht bei unvollst\u00e4ndiger Verbrennung des Treibstoffs und sollte nicht nur wegen der gesundheitssch\u00e4dlichen Wirkung vermieden werden.
