L'avion \u00e9lectrique doit \u00eatre utilis\u00e9 dans l'aviation l\u00e9g\u00e8re, principalement pour la formation de base des pilotes - et marque ainsi un pas important vers une aviation plus respectueuse de l'environnement. Le projet Pipistrel Velis Electro a en outre permis d'acqu\u00e9rir des exp\u00e9riences et des connaissances importantes pour l'homologation d'avions \u00e0 faibles \u00e9missions et \u00e0 propulsion \u00e9cologique. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l'avion \u00e0 moteur \u00e9lectrique stationn\u00e9 en Suisse, l'OFAC a pu, en collaboration avec les autorit\u00e9s a\u00e9ronautiques de France et de Slov\u00e9nie ainsi qu'avec le fabricant Pipistrel, acc\u00e9der aux donn\u00e9es importantes d'un programme d'essais en vol dans les conditions de vol de l'AESA. La certification a ainsi pu \u00eatre achev\u00e9e en moins de trois ans. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 ce projet, l'AESA et l'OFAC ont non seulement acquis un grand savoir-faire en mati\u00e8re d'avions \u00e9lectriques, mais ont \u00e9galement jet\u00e9 les bases de la certification d'avions \u00e0 faibles \u00e9missions et \u00e0 propulsion \u00e9cologique.<\/p>\n

Le climat et la population en profitent, car l'utilisation d'avions \u00e9lectriques r\u00e9duit consid\u00e9rablement les nuisances sonores dans l'aviation l\u00e9g\u00e8re.<\/p>\n

Une technique convaincante<\/strong><\/p>\n

L'avion \u00e9lectrique Pipistrel Velis Electro appartient \u00e0 la cat\u00e9gorie d'avions Light Sport Aircraft (LSA) et dispose d'un moteur \u00e9lectrique E-811. Celui-ci d\u00e9veloppe 57,6 kilowatts (78 CV) au d\u00e9collage pour une dur\u00e9e maximale de 90 secondes, la puissance de croisi\u00e8re \u00e9tant limit\u00e9e \u00e0 49,2 kW (67 CV). Les deux batteries de propulsion, d'une tension nominale de 345 volts, ont chacune une capacit\u00e9 de 11 kilowattheures. Selon les indications du fabricant, une dur\u00e9e de vol de 50 minutes plus une r\u00e9serve de 10 minutes est possible. Le Pipistrel Velis Electro doit notamment \u00eatre utilis\u00e9 pour la formation de base des pilotes. Les titulaires d'une licence de pilote priv\u00e9 peuvent suivre une initiation pendant 5 vols.<\/p>\n

Entre-temps, certifi\u00e9 par l'EASA\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mi-mai 2020, l'AESA a approuv\u00e9 le moteur \u00e9lectrique, un peu plus tard l'avion et la semaine derni\u00e8re le vol inaugural. En effet, avant que le Pipistrel Velis Electro ne devienne le premier avion \u00e9lectrique au monde \u00e0 obtenir une certification de type, il a fallu d\u00e9finir et sp\u00e9cifier de A \u00e0 Z les conditions d'exploitation, de maintenance et de formation des pilotes et du personnel. Celles-ci ne figuraient pas dans le cadre de certification de l'AESA en vigueur jusqu'\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent. L'OFAC a jou\u00e9 un r\u00f4le de premier plan dans l'\u00e9laboration de ces nouvelles conditions de certification.<\/p>\n
