Selon le proc\u00e9d\u00e9, le m\u00e9thane capt\u00e9 peut \u00eatre utilis\u00e9 \u00e0 des fins \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques. Cela signifie des revenus suppl\u00e9mentaires potentiels par la vente suppl\u00e9mentaire de gaz ou d'\u00e9lectricit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Couverture \u00e9tanche aux gaz\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Pour r\u00e9duire les \u00e9missions de m\u00e9thane, il faut \u00e9quiper les \u00e9tapes du processus de traitement ana\u00e9robie des boues d'un couvercle \u00e9tanche aux gaz. Ainsi, l'exploitant de la STEP capte les flux d'air vici\u00e9 et le m\u00e9thane n'est plus rejet\u00e9 dans l'atmosph\u00e8re. Selon les conditions locales, les mesures suivantes peuvent \u00eatre appliqu\u00e9es pour traiter les flux d'air vici\u00e9 contenant du m\u00e9thane :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Utilisation en cog\u00e9n\u00e9ration<\/li>\n<li>Alimentation dans le r\u00e9servoir de gaz (par exemple via le raccordement de la pile de boues \u00e0 l'installation de digestion)<\/li>\n<li>Destruction dans l'incin\u00e9ration des boues<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>R\u00e9mun\u00e9ration par tonne d'\u00e9quivalent CO2 r\u00e9duite\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Si un exploitant de STEP participe au programme (voir aussi l'encadr\u00e9), il re\u00e7oit 140 francs par tonne de CO2e r\u00e9duite jusqu'\u00e0 ce que l'investissement dans la couverture soit rembours\u00e9.
