En effet, une \u00e9tude r\u00e9cente a identifi\u00e9 plus de 10 000 substances chimiques pouvant \u00eatre utilis\u00e9es dans la fabrication des plastiques. Il en r\u00e9sulte que les plastiques peuvent contenir une multitude de substances chimiques. Or, nombre de ces produits chimiques remplissent la m\u00eame fonction. Mais le manque de coordination entre les fabricants fait que les plastiques de diff\u00e9rents producteurs ont souvent des compositions chimiques diff\u00e9rentes pour les m\u00eames applications.<\/p>\r\n<p>Cette diversit\u00e9 et cette complexit\u00e9 des formulations plastiques entra\u00eenent divers effets n\u00e9gatifs et d\u00e9fis, indique par exemple l'Empa dans un r\u00e9cent communiqu\u00e9 de presse. Ainsi, les scientifiques et diverses organisations se sont montr\u00e9s de plus en plus pr\u00e9occup\u00e9s par les effets n\u00e9gatifs sur la sant\u00e9 humaine et sur les \u00e9cosyst\u00e8mes de nombreuses substances chimiques contenues dans les plastiques, qui peuvent se d\u00e9tacher du produit au cours de son cycle de vie.<\/p>\r\n<h3>La diversit\u00e9 chimique renforce le probl\u00e8me de la pollution plastique<\/h3>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"std-paragraph-block\">\r\n<div class=\"std-art-paragraph\">\r\n<p>La diversit\u00e9 des produits chimiques pr\u00e9sents dans les plastiques peut poser de nombreux d\u00e9fis aux solutions technologiques actuelles et pr\u00e9vues pour lutter contre la pollution plastique. \"L'\u00e9norme vari\u00e9t\u00e9 de produits chimiques pr\u00e9sents dans diff\u00e9rents produits plastiques rend les diff\u00e9rents flux de d\u00e9chets incompatibles. Cette incompatibilit\u00e9 peut affecter consid\u00e9rablement la qualit\u00e9 des produits recycl\u00e9s, entra\u00eenant un \"downcycling\" et des d\u00e9chets toxiques qui n\u00e9cessitent des mesures de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 suppl\u00e9mentaires\", explique Zhanyun Wang, scientifique de l'Empa et l'un des auteurs de l'\u00e9tude.<\/p>\r\n<p>Antonia Praetorius, professeur assistant \u00e0 l'universit\u00e9 d'Amsterdam et co-auteur de l'\u00e9tude, ajoute : \"Une solution propos\u00e9e pour lutter contre les d\u00e9chets plastiques caus\u00e9s par les plastiques \u00e0 usage unique est d'utiliser davantage de plastiques plus durables, afin de permettre, par exemple, la r\u00e9utilisation multiple des r\u00e9cipients en plastique pour aliments \u00e0 emporter. Plus la composition chimique de ces plastiques durables est complexe, plus il est difficile de garantir leur int\u00e9grit\u00e9 et leur s\u00e9curit\u00e9 pendant leur dur\u00e9e de vie prolong\u00e9e\".<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<h3>Un optimisme prudent<\/h3>\r\n<div class=\"std-paragraph-block\">\r\n<div class=\"std-art-paragraph\">\r\n<p>N\u00e9anmoins, il y a des raisons d'\u00eatre optimiste pour faire progresser les solutions mondiales \u00e0 la pollution plastique. Les auteurs recommandent aux d\u00e9cideurs politiques et aux chefs d'entreprise de saisir l'occasion unique offerte par les n\u00e9gociations de l'accord sur les plastiques pour unir leurs forces et redessiner les plastiques. En \u00e9tablissant une liste d'additifs chimiques s\u00fbrs qui remplissent certaines fonctions cl\u00e9s, il est possible de parvenir \u00e0 des formulations plastiques plus simples et plus standardis\u00e9es. Les chercheurs font notamment des recommandations concr\u00e8tes sur la mani\u00e8re d'inclure dans le trait\u00e9 des m\u00e9canismes visant \u00e0 r\u00e9duire la diversit\u00e9 et la complexit\u00e9 des produits chimiques utilis\u00e9s dans la production de plastique.
