(Image symbolique : Unsplash)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Lorsque l'on parle de g\u00e9othermie, la plupart des gens pensent \u00e0 B\u00e2le et \u00e0 Saint-Gall - et aux l\u00e9gers tremblements de terre. C'\u00e9tait en 2006 et 2013, mais la g\u00e9othermie est bien plus que cela. La g\u00e9othermie est l'histoire d'une r\u00e9ussite.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Faire de la recherche \u00e0 haute pression<br \/>\n<\/strong>Certes, il convient de diff\u00e9rencier la g\u00e9othermie profonde, la g\u00e9othermie moyenne et la g\u00e9othermie peu profonde. La g\u00e9othermie profonde consiste \u00e0 forer quatre \u00e0 cinq kilom\u00e8tres dans le sous-sol afin d'utiliser la chaleur qui s'y trouve pour produire de l'\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 ou du chauffage. B\u00e2le et Saint-Gall ont \u00e9t\u00e9 des projets de ce type. La technologie n\u00e9cessaire est connue, mais n'a pas \u00e9t\u00e9 test\u00e9e \u00e0 grande \u00e9chelle. En Suisse, une cinquantaine de scientifiques de l'EPF et de diverses universit\u00e9s travaillent \u00e0 faire progresser rapidement cette technologie.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chauffer et rafra\u00eechir les maisons et les quartiers<br \/>\n<\/strong>La g\u00e9othermie de moyenne profondeur est tr\u00e8s diff\u00e9rente. Une technologie \u00e9prouv\u00e9e - utilis\u00e9e depuis des d\u00e9cennies - permet de forer de l'eau \u00e0 des profondeurs de 500 \u00e0 2000 m\u00e8tres afin de chauffer et de refroidir des b\u00e2timents, des serres, des bains thermaux, des installations commerciales et industrielles ou des quartiers entiers. Les usines peuvent \u00e9galement \u00eatre aliment\u00e9es en chaleur industrielle. A Riehen (BS), par exemple, la g\u00e9othermie alimente un r\u00e9seau de chauffage urbain. Une extension est pr\u00e9vue. Il existe d'autres installations performantes \u00e0 Kreuzlingen (TG), Schlattingen (TG), Kloten (ZH), Bassersorf (ZH), Zurzach (AG), Davos (GR), Saillon (VS), Lavey-les-Bains (VD), Yverdon-les-Bains (VD) ou Gen\u00e8ve.<\/p>\n<p>\"Pour la g\u00e9othermie de moyenne profondeur\", d\u00e9clare Willy Gehrer, pr\u00e9sident de G\u00e9othermie-Suisse et pr\u00e9sident de l'Acad\u00e9mie suisse des sciences techniques (SATW), \"le potentiel est encore loin d'\u00eatre \u00e9puis\u00e9 ! Je suis convaincu que l'encouragement financier de la Conf\u00e9d\u00e9ration d\u00e9clenchera encore un boom dans les ann\u00e9es \u00e0 venir. Celui-ci se dessine d\u00e9j\u00e0 aujourd'hui\". Effectivement : \"Depuis leur introduction d\u00e9but janvier 2018, les contributions d'encouragement suscitent un vif int\u00e9r\u00eat\", sait Nicole Lupi, responsable de la promotion de la g\u00e9othermie \u00e0 l'Office f\u00e9d\u00e9ral de l'\u00e9nergie (OFEN).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Leader mondial de la g\u00e9othermie peu profonde<br \/>\n<\/strong>Enfin, pour la g\u00e9othermie peu profonde, la Suisse fait m\u00eame partie des leaders mondiaux. La g\u00e9othermie peu profonde ou proche de la surface atteint une profondeur d'environ 500 m\u00e8tres. La chaleur qui s'y trouve permet de chauffer et de refroidir des maisons individuelles et des immeubles, des h\u00f4tels, des bureaux ou des entreprises commerciales et industrielles. En Suisse, ce sont surtout les sondes g\u00e9othermiques qui sont tr\u00e8s r\u00e9pandues. Les applications sont extr\u00eamement vari\u00e9es. M\u00eame les terminaux d'a\u00e9roport (dock E de l'a\u00e9roport de Zurich-Kloten) utilisent la g\u00e9othermie. Et : m\u00eame les aiguillages et les routes peuvent \u00eatre d\u00e9givr\u00e9s par la g\u00e9othermie. Les CFF testent des chauffages d'aiguillage aliment\u00e9s par la g\u00e9othermie.<\/p>\n<p><strong>La g\u00e9othermie, c'est la protection du climat<br \/>\n<\/strong>Pour r\u00e9duire les \u00e9missions de CO<sub>2<\/sub>-des b\u00e2timents, de plus en plus de particuliers, de villes et de communes misent sur la g\u00e9othermie. Les statistiques le montrent \u00e9galement. Entre 2000 et 2017, la production de chaleur issue de la g\u00e9othermie a augment\u00e9 de 348 pour cent en Suisse, passant de 1186 \u00e0 4130 gigawattheures. La production de chaleur \u00e0 partir de sondes g\u00e9othermiques a m\u00eame augment\u00e9 de 485 pour cent.
