(Image : wikipedia)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"bodytext\">Dans le cadre du changement climatique, \"la plupart des glaciers du monde vont fortement fondre au cours des prochaines d\u00e9cennies\", informe l'\u00c9cole polytechnique f\u00e9d\u00e9rale de Zurich (<a href=\"\/\/www.ethz.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EPF<\/a>) dans une\u00a0<a href=\"\/\/ethz.ch\/content\/main\/de\/news-und-veranstaltungen\/eth-news\/news\/2019\/11\/gletscherbecken-wasserspeicher.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Communiqu\u00e9<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"bodytext\">Comme les rivi\u00e8res auront alors un d\u00e9bit nettement moins important pendant les mois d'\u00e9t\u00e9, les scientifiques discutent des possibilit\u00e9s de remplacer la fonction de stockage de la glace des glaciers par des lacs de barrage. Dans ce contexte, un groupe de glaciologues de l'EPFZ, en collaboration avec des scientifiques de l'Institut de recherche sur la for\u00eat, la neige et le paysage (<a href=\"\/\/www.wsl.ch\/de.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WSL<\/a>) a \u00e9tudi\u00e9 dans le monde entier le potentiel des glaciers qui fondent pour le stockage de l'eau et l'\u00e9nergie hydro\u00e9lectrique.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"news-content\">\n<p><strong>Des m\u00e9moires r\u00e9alistes ?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"bodytext\">Selon les chercheurs, les quelque 185.000 glaciers consid\u00e9r\u00e9s pr\u00e9sentent un potentiel th\u00e9orique total de 875 kilom\u00e8tres cubes d'eau et un potentiel hydro\u00e9lectrique maximal th\u00e9orique de 1350 t\u00e9rawattheures par an.<\/p>\n<p class=\"bodytext\">\"Ce potentiel th\u00e9orique total correspond \u00e0 environ un tiers de la production hydro\u00e9lectrique mondiale actuelle\", explique Daniel Farinotti, professeur de glaciologie \u00e0 l'Institut exp\u00e9rimental d'hydraulique, d'hydrologie et de glaciologie (<a href=\"\/\/vaw.ethz.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">VAW<\/a>) de l'ETH Zurich, cit\u00e9 dans le communiqu\u00e9. \"Mais seule une partie d'entre eux serait effectivement r\u00e9alisable dans la r\u00e9alit\u00e9\".<\/p>\n<p class=\"bodytext\">Concr\u00e8tement, les chercheurs estiment qu'environ 40 pour cent du potentiel total est potentiellement appropri\u00e9. Mais ces volumes de stockage potentiellement appropri\u00e9s suffiraient d\u00e9j\u00e0 \"\u00e0 retenir environ la moiti\u00e9 du d\u00e9bit annuel des bassins versants glaciaires \u00e9tudi\u00e9s\", explique Farinotti.<\/p>\n<p class=\"bodytext\">Pour cela, les bassins des glaciers en fonte devraient \u00eatre transform\u00e9s en lacs de retenue \u00e0 l'aide de barrages.
