Il y a deux d\u00e9cennies et demie d\u00e9j\u00e0, en 1999 plus pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment, le physicien allemand Klaus Lackner, travaillant aux \u00c9tats-Unis, proposait pour la premi\u00e8re fois de r\u00e9cup\u00e9rer le dioxyde de carbone dans l'air ambiant. L'augmentation incessante des \u00e9missions de CO2 dues \u00e0 l'activit\u00e9 humaine et la hausse globale des temp\u00e9ratures qui en r\u00e9sulte ont permis \u00e0 la technologie de capture directe de l'air de prendre de plus en plus d'importance ces derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es dans la lutte contre le r\u00e9chauffement climatique. Les premi\u00e8res installations DAC existent d\u00e9j\u00e0, par exemple en Suisse, en Islande ou aux \u00c9tats-Unis. Mais la technologie en est encore au stade du d\u00e9veloppement - et les r\u00e9sultats obtenus restent assez limit\u00e9s et tr\u00e8s co\u00fbteux et \u00e9nergivores.<\/p>\n<h3>La capture directe de l'air repens\u00e9e<\/h3>\n<p>\u00c0 quoi doit r\u00e9pondre un processus DAC pour pouvoir \u00eatre r\u00e9ellement d\u00e9ploy\u00e9 partout \u00e0 l'\u00e9chelle mondiale ? O\u00f9 se situent les faiblesses dans les installations existantes ? Et surtout, que peut-on am\u00e9liorer ?<\/p>\n<p>C'est avec des questions comme celles-ci que les ing\u00e9nieurs d'Obrist se sont r\u00e9unis avec le chimiste allemand Prof. Robert Schl\u00f6gl, ancien directeur de l'Institut Fritz-Haber, de l'Institut Max-Planck pour la conversion chimique de l'\u00e9nergie et aujourd'hui pr\u00e9sident de la Fondation Alexander von Humboldt, pour analyser les installations existantes et chercher de nouvelles approches. Ce faisant, ils ont toujours gard\u00e9 \u00e0 l'esprit le principe du fondateur de l'entreprise, Frank Obrist : il ne suffit pas d'\u00eatre diff\u00e9rent, il faut aussi \u00eatre meilleur. Conform\u00e9ment \u00e0 ce principe, le groupe industriel de Lustenau, en Autriche, est d\u00e9j\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent sur le march\u00e9 de l'\u00e9nergie. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.organisator.ch\/de\/sustainability\/2024-02-21\/interesse-an-anlagen-fuer-die-methanolproduktion-steigt\/\">diff\u00e9rents domaines<\/a> activement.<\/p>\n<p>\"Lors de nos analyses, il est apparu que l'installation devait \u00eatre r\u00e9alisable avec des mat\u00e9riaux bon march\u00e9, disponibles partout et \u00e0 tout moment. De plus, il doit s'agir d'un processus continu - sans mise en marche et arr\u00eat permanents. L'installation doit fonctionner avec de l'\u00e9nergie thermique \u00e0 des temp\u00e9ratures relativement basses et elle doit bien s\u00fbr fonctionner dans la ceinture solaire de la Terre, o\u00f9 l'\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 est disponible. Le processus doit en outre \u00eatre stable et \u00e9volutif en cons\u00e9quence. Dans ce contexte, nous avons trouv\u00e9 une solution qui nous offre quelques avantages par rapport \u00e0 nos concurrents\", explique Frank Obrist.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3>Extraire directement de l'air non seulement le CO2, mais aussi l'eau<\/h3>\n<p>A propos de la ceinture solaire : l'une des conditions de base de l'\u00e9quipe d'Obrist \u00e9tait d'extraire non seulement du CO2 pur de l'air, mais aussi de l'eau - m\u00eame dans les conditions les plus s\u00e8ches. C'est un facteur extr\u00eamement important, qui repr\u00e9sente un avantage essentiel par rapport \u00e0 la concurrence, selon Obrist. En effet, en raison de leur conception, les installations conventionnelles lib\u00e8rent constamment de l'eau dans l'environnement en raison de leur processus chimique. On comprend ais\u00e9ment que cet \u00e9tat de fait soit fatal dans les r\u00e9gions d\u00e9sertiques. Obrist DAC, en revanche, est capable d'extraire l'eau activement au cours du processus.<\/p>\n<h3>Une d\u00e9pense \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e, mais des co\u00fbts tr\u00e8s g\u00e9rables<\/h3>\n<p>Si l'on compare les besoins en \u00e9nergie du DAC d'Obrist avec ceux des installations d'autres fabricants, on constate que l'app\u00e9tit \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique de la solution d'Obrist est environ 20 \u00e0 50 % plus \u00e9lev\u00e9 que celui de ses concurrents. Toutefois, la technologie Obrist peut fonctionner dans la ceinture solaire de la Terre et donc avec une \u00e9nergie relativement abordable - moins de 1 centime\/kWh. Un autre avantage par rapport aux concurrents, dont les concepts ne sont pas con\u00e7us pour cela. Pour certains processus, la technologie Obrist a en outre besoin de beaucoup d'\u00e9nergie thermique. Les ing\u00e9nieurs d'Obrist ont toutefois calcul\u00e9 qu'une grande partie de l'\u00e9nergie thermique pouvait \u00eatre r\u00e9cup\u00e9r\u00e9e sous forme de chaleur r\u00e9siduelle issue de la synth\u00e8se du m\u00e9thanol. En combinaison avec l'utilisation de l'\u00e9nergie solaire thermique, les co\u00fbts baissent ici encore nettement. Les co\u00fbts de construction de l'installation sont \u00e9galement faibles<em>www.obrist.at<\/em>Obrist DAC ne travaille pas \u00e0 des pressions \u00e9lev\u00e9es, l'installation peut donc \u00eatre construite tr\u00e8s simplement en plastique et donc dans des r\u00e9gions plus recul\u00e9es du monde.
