L'industrie suisse des mati\u00e8res plastiques se caract\u00e9rise majoritairement par des PME comptant en moyenne 10 \u00e0 40 collaborateurs. Cette branche pr\u00e9sente donc une composition typiquement suisse. La branche se compose d'environ 800 entreprises employant au total 33000 personnes. Les entreprises de la branche sont regroup\u00e9es au sein de l'association fa\u00eeti\u00e8re KUNSTSTOFF.swiss. Mais celle-ci comprend \u00e9galement des entreprises mondiales agissant \u00e0 l'\u00e9chelle mondiale comme EMS Chemie, Sika, Geberit ou Georg Fischer, pour n'en citer que quelques-unes.<\/p>\n

Faible baisse du chiffre d'affaires, ce qui est r\u00e9jouissant<\/h2>\n

Chaque ann\u00e9e, l'association professionnelle de l'industrie suisse des mati\u00e8res plastiques collecte ses donn\u00e9es \u00e9conomiques. Les chiffres pr\u00e9sent\u00e9s r\u00e9cemment donnent une impression r\u00e9jouissante : la branche semble avoir plut\u00f4t bien travers\u00e9 la crise due \u00e0 la pand\u00e9mie. En 2020, elle a ainsi r\u00e9alis\u00e9 un chiffre d'affaires de 14,4 milliards de francs. C'est seulement 5 pour cent de moins que l'ann\u00e9e pr\u00e9c\u00e9dente. Le pr\u00e9sident de l'association Silvio Ponti et le directeur Kurt R\u00f6schli se sont donc montr\u00e9s satisfaits : \"L'une des raisons en est certainement la gestion flexible de la crise par les entreprises et la demande ininterrompue de mati\u00e8res plastiques au moment m\u00eame o\u00f9 l'hygi\u00e8ne devient le th\u00e8me principal, car le plastique prot\u00e8ge\", a soulign\u00e9 Silvio Ponti.<\/p>\n

Gagnants et perdants de l'industrie suisse des mati\u00e8res plastiques<\/h2>\n

La plus grande tranche du chiffre d'affaires de la branche - environ 67% - provient de la transformation des mati\u00e8res plastiques. Le recul du chiffre d'affaires y est marginal, avec 1%. Chez les n\u00e9gociants en mati\u00e8res premi\u00e8res, le recul du chiffre d'affaires s'\u00e9l\u00e8ve \u00e0 pr\u00e8s de 8% et refl\u00e8te les prix encore tr\u00e8s bas \u00e0 l'\u00e9poque. Selon l'enqu\u00eate, ce sont les fournisseurs de machines et de p\u00e9riph\u00e9riques qui ont le plus perdu, avec un peu plus de 30%. Cela montre de mani\u00e8re impressionnante \u00e0 quel point les transformateurs se sont comport\u00e9s en mati\u00e8re d'investissements et les ont imm\u00e9diatement r\u00e9duits par respect pour la crise.<\/p>\n

Bien entendu, il y a aussi des gagnants : parmi eux, les entreprises qui fabriquaient des cloisons en plexiglas. Elles ont connu un essor massif d'environ 60% et ont parfois eu du mal \u00e0 livrer en raison de la demande soudaine. Les fabricants de composants d'appareils respiratoires et de r\u00e9cipients de d\u00e9sinfectants n'ont pu r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 la demande massive qu'en travaillant en \u00e9quipes suppl\u00e9mentaires. Les fabricants et les distributeurs de masques - les masques sont eux aussi en grande partie constitu\u00e9s de mati\u00e8res plastiques - ont connu une ascension fulgurante.<\/p>\n

Emballage et construction : les plastiques prot\u00e8gent le climat<\/h2>\n

Avec une part d'environ 40% chacun, les segments de l'emballage et de la construction restent les domaines dans lesquels les plastiques sont le plus utilis\u00e9s. Les plastiques contribuent ici largement \u00e0 la protection du climat. Ils isolent, \u00e9conomisent l'\u00e9nergie et r\u00e9duisent le gaspillage alimentaire. L'utilisation du plastique permet d'all\u00e9ger les moyens de transport, qui consomment ainsi moins de carburant. L'isolation (principalement en plastique) des b\u00e2timents permet de r\u00e9duire les besoins en chauffage. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des emballages plastiques appropri\u00e9s, les aliments se conservent plus longtemps, et il faut produire moins et jeter moins. Cela contribue \u00e9galement \u00e0 la protection du climat. L'emballage ne repr\u00e9sente d'ailleurs que 1,5 \u00e0 2% de l'empreinte carbone du produit emball\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Les chiffres de l'association sectorielle montrent en outre que l'utilisation de mati\u00e8res recycl\u00e9es passe de 8% (2019) \u00e0 14% en 2020. Cela est d\u00fb \u00e0 l'am\u00e9lioration des processus de production et \u00e0 l'attention port\u00e9e par les entreprises au recyclage. Dans certaines entreprises du secteur de la logistique et de la construction, des proportions d'environ 30% de mat\u00e9riaux recycl\u00e9s sont tout \u00e0 fait \u00e0 l'ordre du jour, ce qui souligne une fois de plus la capacit\u00e9 de recyclage des mati\u00e8res plastiques.<\/p>\n

La main-d'\u0153uvre qualifi\u00e9e et la place industrielle suisse<\/h2>\n

Bien que le nombre d'entreprises (743) ait diminu\u00e9 par rapport \u00e0 l'ann\u00e9e pr\u00e9c\u00e9dente (854), le nombre de collaborateurs (33 029 contre 33 935) est rest\u00e9 stable, comme l'indique KUNSTSTOFF.swiss. D'autant plus que, comme l'a soulign\u00e9 le pr\u00e9sident Silvio Ponti, cela n'est pas principalement d\u00fb \u00e0 la crise, mais bien plus au manque de personnel qualifi\u00e9. Le directeur Kurt R\u00f6schli ajoute : \"La branche offre de nombreuses places de formation attrayantes et prometteuses. En effet, les technologues en mati\u00e8res plastiques sont des sp\u00e9cialistes extr\u00eamement recherch\u00e9s\".<\/p>\n

La pand\u00e9mie a montr\u00e9 une fois de plus l'importance de la Suisse en tant que site de production. La proportion de travailleurs qualifi\u00e9s est pass\u00e9e d'un peu plus de 64% \u00e0 pr\u00e8s de 69%, au d\u00e9triment des travailleurs semi-qualifi\u00e9s, dont la proportion a diminu\u00e9. Dans l'ensemble, l'industrie suisse des mati\u00e8res plastiques continue de souffrir d'une importante p\u00e9nurie de main-d'\u0153uvre qualifi\u00e9e. Ainsi, seuls 75 apprentis environ terminent chaque ann\u00e9e leur formation dans les m\u00e9tiers du plastique, alors qu'il y aurait deux fois plus de places de formation.<\/p>\n
