(Immagine: Unsplash)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Come ha riferito oggi la radiotelevisione svizzera SRF, anche l'Eawag, l'istituto di ricerca sulle acque del settore dei PF, sta studiando le acque reflue per lo sviluppo di un sistema di allerta precoce sin dal primo giorno della diffusione della Sars-VoV-2:<\/p>\n<p>Il 24 febbraio \u00e8 stato reso noto che la prima persona in Ticino ha contratto un'infezione con il nuovo coronavirus. Lo stesso giorno, il team di ricerca guidato da Christoph Ort ha iniziato il suo lavoro. Da allora, i nove maggiori impianti di trattamento delle acque reflue del Ticino prelevano ogni giorno un campione di acqua da un litro, spiega l'ingegnere ambientale di Eawag: \"Ora abbiamo gi\u00e0 pi\u00f9 di 300 campioni conservati nei nostri congelatori\".<\/p>\n<p>I ricercatori svizzeri sono fiduciosi non solo di riuscire a rilevare il virus nell'acqua, ma anche di poterlo quantificare. Idealmente, nel 2020 sarebbe ancora possibile stimare approssimativamente il numero di persone infette da Sars-CoV-2. Tuttavia, ci\u00f2 richiederebbe un sistema di misurazione ufficiale a livello svizzero. Secondo l'Eawag, un sistema di allarme precoce per la Sars-CoV-2 richiederebbe una rete di 19 grandi impianti di trattamento delle acque reflue distribuiti in tutta la Svizzera.<\/p>\n<p>In questo modo si otterrebbero informazioni sulle escrezioni di 2,5 milioni di persone in Svizzera.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Come fa il virus a entrare nelle acque reflue?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Una persona infetta espelle il virus nelle feci. Secondo loro, la rapida diffusione del virus aumenter\u00e0 anche la quantit\u00e0 nei sistemi fognari. Tuttavia, il microbiologo Gertjan Medema e i suoi colleghi dell'Istituto di ricerca sull'acqua KWR di Nieuwegein affermano alla rivista economica che \u00e8 improbabile che le acque reflue diventino un'importante via di trasmissione della malattia. <a href=\"\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2020-03-31\/coronavirus-in-sewage-portended-covid-19-outbreak-in-dutch-city\">Bloomberg<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Il monitoraggio delle acque reflue come sistema di allarme precoce \u00e8 possibile?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\"\u00c8 importante raccogliere informazioni sulla presenza e sul destino di questo nuovo virus nelle acque reflue per capire se non ci sono rischi per i lavoratori del settore, ma anche per determinare se il monitoraggio delle acque reflue pu\u00f2 essere utilizzato per monitorare la circolazione della Sars-CoV-2 nelle nostre comunit\u00e0\", ha dichiarato Medema in un rapporto pubblicato.<\/p>\n<p>E ha aggiunto: \"Questo potrebbe integrare l'attuale sorveglianza clinica, che si limita ai pazienti covidi 19 con i sintomi pi\u00f9 gravi\". I ricercatori sospettano da tempo che il numero di persone infettate dal coronavirus sia molto pi\u00f9 alto di quello che pu\u00f2 essere confermato dai test.<\/p>\n<p>Il rapporto dei ricercatori olandesi \u00e8 il primo sul rilevamento della Sars-CoV-2 nelle acque reflue.
