In futuro, le bottiglie in PET saranno prodotte dalla biomassa.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

I due maggiori fornitori di acqua in bottiglia, Danone e Nestl\u00e9 Water, vogliono collaborare con la startup californiana Materiali di origine<\/a> sviluppare una bottiglia in PET rinnovabile 100% che pu\u00f2 essere utilizzata su scala commerciale. Il progetto utilizza la biomassa dai rifiuti - come il cartone usato o la segatura. Questo per garantire che la produzione delle bottiglie non richieda risorse e terreni aggiuntivi e non sottragga alla produzione di cibo e mangimi.<\/p>\n

Utilizzare risorse sostenibili<\/strong><\/p>\n

L'obiettivo \u00e8 quello di raggiungere un'economia circolare per gli imballaggi, secondo il capo dello sviluppo della Danone Frederic Jouin. Questo deve essere fatto da un lato utilizzando risorse sostenibili, e dall'altro con il riciclaggio di seconda mano di tutti i materiali plastici. \"Crediamo che sia possibile sostituire i materiali fossili tradizionali con materiali di imballaggio a base biologica\", dice Jouin. Le nuove bottiglie dovrebbero essere leggere, trasparenti, riciclabili e compatibili con il contenuto come il PET di oggi.<\/p>\n

La tecnologia odierna permette di utilizzare circa 30% di PET a base biologica nella produzione di bottiglie. Il nuovo sviluppo dovrebbe aumentare questo a 100%. Origin Materials \u00e8 riuscita finora a produrre prodotti pilota con un massimo di 80% di materiale biobased; la produzione commerciale di bottiglie con 60+% di PET biobased dovrebbe iniziare nel 2018. Inizialmente, 5000 tonnellate del nuovo materiale saranno immesse sul mercato.
