Of the 1276 apprentices who took part in the qualification examinations (QV) this year, 1219 were successful. 81 apprentices achieved an average grade of 5.3 or higher, placing them in the federal rankings. Janis Gauggel (EFZ 5.8 / BM 5.6) and Sarah Melina Beereuter (BM 5.7 / EFZ 5.6) achieved top marks. Both have completed the basic commercial training with vocational baccalaureate (M profile).

Rector Christian Wölfle was delighted with the high pass rate of 95.5 percent. In his welcome address, he emphasized that over 40 nationalities were represented among the newly qualified business graduates. This cultural diversity and values such as tolerance, which are practiced at the school, are not only something to be proud of, he said, but can also benefit students in a variety of ways.

As is tradition, the newly graduated business people were celebrated in Zurich's Hallenstadion. 4,200 guests - including families, friends, teachers and vocational and practical trainers - attended the event. Numerous other spectators from all over the world followed the ceremony via livestream. Guest speaker Michel Ducommun, co-director of Velafrica, congratulated the young businesspeople. The non-profit organization is committed to sustainable mobility and the development of vocational training in various African countries. In his speech, he repeatedly let Mariam have her say via video clips. The young woman from Burkina Faso was able to complete an apprenticeship as a bicycle mechanic thanks to Velafrica. "With every bike I get rolling, I also make a step forward in life," she said, addressing the graduates. After all, their careers really take off once they have completed their commercial apprenticeship.
