FH Switzerland: Toni Schmid to hand over management in the fall
Toni Schmid, the long-standing Managing Director of the umbrella organization FH SCHWEIZ, is stepping down. He has built up and shaped the association since the beginning in 2003. The search for a suitable successor was entrusted to a renowned company specializing in the selection of managers.

FH Switzerland is the only national association of all UAS graduates and unites over 80,000 members and 44 affiliated organizations. As the voice of the Swiss UAS community, the umbrella organization is committed to strong framework conditions and high visibility for its members.
FH Schweiz was founded in 2003 with the merger of the engineering organization FH-Vision and the Society of Business Economists GSB HWV/FH. Toni Schmid has been involved since 2000. Initially still Managing Director of GSB, he took over the management of the new association from the start and has shaped it to this day. In the process, Schmid built up a large network with the federal government, universities of applied sciences, in politics, business and among associations and shaped the umbrella organization into a strong player in the Swiss university of applied sciences landscape. During this time, FH Switzerland was able to continuously increase its membership. Today, the association represents all departments of universities of applied sciences. Thanks to its consistent commitment to the concerns of UAS graduates, UAS Switzerland is perceived as an important voice for UAS education at a national level.
After more than 25 years, Toni Schmid will retire in fall 2026. «Unbelievable: a quarter of a century flew by in a flash. I would apply for this job again in a heartbeat!» says Toni Schmid, looking back on this time. «Toni Schmid and his team have set up and positioned FH Switzerland excellently with tireless commitment, strategic and entrepreneurial skill,» says Andri Silberschmidt, President of the Association and National Councillor. «Toni leaves a big gap and we are extremely sorry for his loss. At the same time, the foundation he has laid is the ideal basis for handing over the management to new, equally energetic hands.»
As of September 1, FH Switzerland is now looking for a personality who enjoys making an impact and assuming responsibility to the same extent. The Association's Board of Directors has commissioned Jörg Lienert AG Zurich, which specializes in the selection of managers, to find a successor. We are looking for an entrepreneurial personality with an FH degree, proven management experience and confident communication skills. This also includes a pronounced enjoyment of acquisition, networking and teamwork, which she can bring to bear in the various departments and specialist areas of the office of an NGO with 25 employees.
