Federal Certificate for 48 Communications Professionals
At the Farelhaus in Biel, 48 graduates received their federal professional certificates as communications specialists. At the same time, KS/CS Kommunikation Schweiz is modernizing the professional examination for the digital future.
On August 27, the big day finally arrived: At the Farelhaus in Biel, 48 graduates received their federal professional certificates as communications specialists. Behind each certification lie several years of practical professional experience, a rigorous continuing education program, and the determination to take responsibility for effective communication. KS/CS Kommunikation Schweiz, the umbrella organization for commercial communication, thereby recognizes professionals who are equipped to meet the demands of an increasingly digitalized world of communication.
Seeking Qualified Professionals for the Federal Certificate
Digitalization, artificial intelligence, and new media are fundamentally changing communication—and as a result, the demands placed on professionals in the industry are also increasing. «Communication builds trust. Especially in times of change, we need professionals who can provide guidance to companies and organizations,» says Dominik Leonhardt, president of the examination boards at KS/CS Kommunikation Schweiz. The federal certificate optimally combines professional experience and continuing education—a combination that makes advanced vocational education a model of success for the Swiss economy, according to KS/CS.
Knowledge Passed Down from Generation to Generation
Particularly noteworthy: Three graduates from the previous year already served as exam experts. Working alongside experienced professionals, they supported the exams, contributing new perspectives, fresh ideas, and great enthusiasm. This is how knowledge is passed down from one generation to the next within the industry.
Reform of the Professional Examination Completed
The graduation ceremony also marked an important milestone: the reform of the federal professional examination has been completed. The exam format has been comprehensively modernized. In the future, topics such as strategic communication, data-driven decision-making, artificial intelligence, project management, and interdisciplinary collaboration will be given even greater emphasis. The first exams under the new examination regulations will take place in 2027.
Higher vocational education is also gaining importance politically: Starting in October 2026, graduates with federal degrees will be allowed to use the new title suffixes «Professional Bachelor» and «Professional Master,» respectively. This is intended to strengthen the international recognition and comparability of Swiss qualifications. KS/CS hopes that this change will once again attract candidates from German-speaking Switzerland to the next exams—candidates who were not represented this year. Together with the industry and training institutions, KS/CS Kommunikation Schweiz is working to raise awareness of this educational pathway.
KS/CS Kommunikation Schweiz notes that anyone who relies on qualified communications professionals today is investing in people who provide guidance to companies and design effective communication strategies.
