When no one answers at night: Moodini brings AI conversation partner for mental relief
Almost one in three working people in Switzerland feels emotionally exhausted. The Bern-based digital agency Maxomedia is launching Moodini, an AI app that is available around the clock as a low-threshold contact - anonymous, non-judgmental and with no waiting time.

More and more people feel emotionally exhausted, overwhelmed or alone with their thoughts - and yet cannot easily find access to professional support. Long waiting times, high costs and a reluctance to talk about personal problems often stand in the way of seeking help. According to the Swiss Health Observatory Obsan, almost one in three working people in Switzerland now feel emotionally exhausted - 30.3% to be precise, more than ever before. According to estimates, stress costs the Swiss economy CHF 6.5 billion per year.
Sort out your thoughts whenever necessary
The Bern-based digital agency Maxomedia is launching Moodini, a new AI-based conversation partner for everyday life. The app is designed to help people sort out their thoughts, reduce stress or simply have someone to talk to - at any time, anonymously and without fear of thresholds. «Many people don't need therapy straight away,» says Simon Muster, CEO of Maxomedia. «Often the first thing they need is simply to express their thoughts, to feel understood or to take some of the pressure off their heads. That's exactly where Moodini comes in.»
Moodini is not a substitute for therapy, but a calm, non-judgmental companion for difficult or stressful moments. Users can use the app to talk about worries, excessive demands, sleep problems or personal thoughts and receive empathetic answers and simple impulses for reflection. The app is available around the clock and is deliberately designed to be low-threshold.
AI as a low-threshold discussion partner
«We have observed that many people prefer to talk to an AI first rather than no one at all,» says Muster. «We found this socially exciting and at the same time very human.» This observation is based on a real need: the desire for a conversation partner who listens, does not judge and is always available.
Developed in Switzerland - with a focus on data protection
Moodini was developed by Maxomedia in Bern and is based on the in-house AI platform KIVY. Trust was at the heart of the development process: the app is based on Swiss data protection standards and deliberately avoids public profiles or social mechanics. Moodini is now available for iPhone in the Apple App Store. An Android version will follow at a later date.
