ISS Switzerland Reaffirms GDP Compliance
ISS Switzerland has successfully recertified its pharmaceutical logistics operations in the life sciences sector in accordance with the EU guidelines on «Good Distribution Practice» (GDP). The accredited certification body DEKRA confirmed compliance for another three years. The audit was conducted without any nonconformities being identified.
When medicines are stored, picked, or transported, quality, safety, and traceability must be ensured at all times. The EU guideline on «Good Distribution Practice» (GDP) sets out clear requirements for temperature control, documentation, quality management, processes, and employee qualifications.
ISS Switzerland has once again met these requirements. As part of the recertification process, DEKRA reviewed the quality-related processes and operational logistics procedures of the Logistics Services division within the Life Sciences sector. Particular emphasis was placed on compliance with regulatory requirements, the application of the Life Sciences Quality Management System (PQMS), and its consistent implementation in day-to-day operations.
The results confirm the high level of process stability: The recertification was completed without any identified nonconformities.
Independently Verified Quality for Sensitive Pharmaceutical Logistics
For customers in the life sciences and pharmaceutical industries, recertification sends an important message. It confirms that ISS manages temperature- and quality-sensitive pharmaceuticals in accordance with clearly defined, documented, and regulatory-compliant processes.
«Achieving GDP recertification without any nonconformities is no coincidence. It demonstrates that our processes are robust and that our teams embody quality, diligence, and responsibility every day. For our customers in the life sciences industry, this sends a strong message: their sensitive pharmaceuticals are in safe hands at ISS,» says Frédéric Rothra, Head of Logistics Services and Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor.
Differentiation in the Growing Pharmaceutical Logistics Market
Demand for GDP-compliant logistics services is growing. Pharmaceutical companies need partners who understand regulatory requirements and can translate them into stable, verifiable processes. Voluntary certification by an independent body such as DEKRA provides additional assurance and transparency.
ISS combines comprehensive facility services with certified pharmaceutical logistics from a single source. ISS is one of the few providers of comprehensive facility management in Switzerland with its own pharmaceutical logistics division, which is also GDP-certified and performs the majority of its services in-house. As a result, ISS offers a unique combination of expertise in building management, laboratory operations, logistics, and compliance. Customers benefit from coordinated services, clear points of contact, and verified quality throughout sensitive processes.
