AI in HR: Eastern Switzerland HR Day 2026 shows opportunities and limits
On September 17, 2026, the 22nd edition of the Eastern Switzerland HR Day will take place at Olma Messen St. Gallen. Under the title «Between algorithm and everyday life - how HR creates real added value with AI», experts from business, science and society will shed light on how artificial intelligence is changing HR management and where the real benefits lie.

Artificial intelligence is changing the world of work at a rapid pace. New opportunities are also constantly emerging in HR management: from the automation of administrative processes to data-based decisions and new forms of collaboration. But which applications actually create added value, where are the opportunities and limitations - and what role does HR play in an increasingly technology-supported working world? The Eastern Switzerland HR Day 2026 will address these questions.
The 22nd edition of the symposium will take place on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the Olma Messen St. Gallen and is entitled «Between algorithm and everyday life - How HR creates real added value with AI». The focus will be on practical insights, concrete application examples and different perspectives from business, science and society.
Orientation in a dynamic environment
Hardly any other topic currently occupies HR managers more than artificial intelligence. While new technologies make the headlines almost daily, many companies are asking themselves which developments are actually relevant and how the use of AI can be sensibly organized. The Eastern Switzerland HR Day addresses these questions and classifies current developments in AI and digitalization in HR. The aim is to provide orientation and show how companies can use technological possibilities responsibly and effectively.
Practice, strategy and human perspectives
Markus Dobbelfeld, Professor of Digital Leadership at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and Co-CEO of Ifolor, will kick things off. In his presentation «Digital competence as a success factor», he will show why it is not the technology itself, but above all leadership, corporate culture and digital skills that determine the success of AI initiatives.
Sandra Lugonjic, Strategy Consultant at HR Campus, will then use specific examples to highlight which AI applications can already be used effectively in HR today and which prerequisites are necessary for successful implementation. In the subsequent talk, Yannic Krüsi, People Analytics Specialist at Helvetia Insurance Switzerland, and moderator Sabine Bianchi will discuss experiences from corporate practice and the question of how technological possibilities can actually benefit employees and organizations.
Dr. Berit Gerritzen and Dr. Rebekka Reinhard are two more experts to complete the program. Gerritzen will shed light on the new role of HR in an AI-supported working world and show which skills will be in demand in the future. Reinhard will focus on the human side of the transformation and the skills that will remain indispensable in the age of intelligent machines.
Exchange and networking
In addition to the specialist presentations, the Eastern Switzerland HR Day offers space for personal encounters and exchanges within the HR community. The event begins with a stand-up lunch and ends with a networking aperitif. The event is organized by Galledia Event and sponsored by HR Eastern Switzerland and the OST - Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences.
